Hey guys,
About three weeks ago my sister told me she needed brakes on her Toyota Highlander,so I went out,and bought new pads. While I was doing them I noticed one of the rotors was scored up pretty bad. So we went out to get new rotors, and then between running out of time, and not knowing how to get the rotors off I called it a day,and sent her on her way with the new pads. Fast forward to today, and I am in the garage trying to get the rotors off after doing research, and finding out my suspicion of removal was right I have hit a problem. What I found out was I only need to use two M8x1.25 bolts threaded into the face of the old rotor, and up against the hub to force the old rotor off. Well when I tighten the bolts up the rotor is cracking around the bolts, and it is not forcing the rotor off. I have been wailing on the back side of the rotor as well to try to get it to pop off,and I have had no luck. I have been hitting the rotor from the back side with a three pound sledge, and then turning the rotor a bit,and so forth.
No luck!!! What am I doing wrong? Any helpful tips? I have put a few goo dents in the back face of the rotor, and I am concerned about the cracking around the threaded holes, but I also want this damn thing off. Any help would be much appreciated. Damn New England weather rusting everything up!!!!
