Hi everybody,
I'm Dan, owner of Mach V Motorsports in Sterling, VA.
We've been a Grassroots Motorsports advertiser for a long time, but I've never spent any time on this forum. When Tim Suddard and junior staffer Tom Suddard came to visit the shop recently, they convinced me it'd be worth my time, so here I am.
Mach V Motorsports has been around since 1998. We started out selling performance parts to owners of DSM (Eclipse/Talon/Laser) cars. We added a catalog for the Subaru WRX when it came to the U.S. in 2002. Since then we've also added parts for Lancer Evolution, MINIs, and turbo BMWs. We have a full-service installation facility, with three service bays, an AWD Dynojet dyno, wheel and tire mounting, an alignment rack, MIG and TIG welding, and more.
Subaru work is the biggest part of our business now. We work on just about any recent (last ten years or so) model Subaru, from regular maintenance to complete engine replacements. We also do custom dyno tuning on them. I'm on the dyno tuning 2-3 days a week.
We've had a bunch of different shop cars. When I have the time, I'll describe some of the more interesting ones in the Project Car forum. Current shop cars include a BMW 335i with minor mods, but a lot of horsepower; and a Subaru BRZ (vanity plate "NO POWER"). Oh, and a 2001 Subaru Impreza with a 2004 STi engine and drivetrain swap.
I'm impressed with the level of literacy on here. I look forward to having you all correct my grammar, as well as testing my knowledge of arcane car trivia.

P.S. Why does the forum display my last two lines as one combined line?

Welcome aboard, Dan.
Yes, this is definitely a good way to interact with GRMers. We've got a few people (e.g. Keith Tanner from Flyin' Miata and MadScientistMatt from DIYAutoTune) who are very active members. It helps a lot....I don't even own a miata, but I have one of Keith's books an his movie. I also have an older (not installed) megasquirt unit.
Talk to people, show us your build threads, and we're a pretty receptive crowd. The weirder the project, the more better.
Heads up to all...order from MachV and be sure to ask for a drawing in the special delivery instructions. My personal fave was the curious george with the peg leg and eye patch, although the pilgrim and turkey rap duo are a pretty close second.
Totally worth buying something just to get a drawing.
welcome to the madness.. this is not your usual internet forum.. so leave your expectations at the door

DO A SEARCH NEWB!!!
Oh wait, wrong forum. Welcome. If you have a kit that would allow a Jag V-12 drop into the middle of an Escort all plug-and-play like, you'd be even more cooler than you already are. I'm sure someone here is doing that right now.
First off, welcome.
There once was a thread here about what people did for a living. I can not seem to find it, maybe someone else can link to it.
As an advertiser, I would think it is a pretty powerful insight.
Sure, GRM gives you some stats that have gathered to what their demographic is for their readership but I found this self posted Forum's Demographic to be very impressive and insightful. I just can't seem to find it.
Dr.Boost: LOfingL DSMwhatever.com is well I have nothing nice to say
After a lifetime of neons I recently bought a 1g Talon TSi awd I'm confused please help (a good source of used parts or a classified section I can access without 6 months of hoop jumping would be great)

We need videos of stuff blowing up on the dyno.
Yes, but expect the answer will be delivered (in Spades) in less than 1hr.
I used to order stuff from you when I had my WRX's, and remember you guys from NASIOC.
Welcome!
welcome! Did I see in an ad somewhere that you guys do some MINI parts as well, or was it someone else mixing Subies and MINIs? I thought it a strange combo.
At any rate, welcome aboard!

I don't think I have any blowing up vids, but there are a lot of dyno videos, here:

Hi! Saw your FBook post about them Suddards stopping by the shop, wondered when we'd see you here...
Completely blanked on the idea ya'll started out in DSM, this could prove useful (I DD an STi, but race Chump in a 1.8 Laser )
Dan
Yes, welcome to the forum.
Hi Dan!
Welcome to the board. Now, with that out of the way, what are your thoughts on this:
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/bbf-powered-mid-engine-awd-celica-all-trac-please-god-someone-buy-it/58048/page1/
Careful, your answer to this question will speak volumes.... choose your words.... wisely.
:)
For a line break, enter two spaces at the end of the line:
Line one(sp)(sp)
Line two(sp)(sp)
Line three(sp)(sp)
Line four(sp)(sp)
If you use a return, you'll get a space:
Line one(return)
Line two(return)
Line three(return)
Line four(return)
If you are doing one or the other and your last two lines are still running together (and you are not copying and pasting from somewhere else) then something it wonky somewhere.
In reply to pinchvalve:
but what if I like
Line one(return)
Line two(return)
Line three(return)
Line four(return)
?
Sorry, as you were, carry on.
Hey Dan, nice to see you on here.
For those of you who haven't met him, he's definitely a real GRMer. I enjoyed my time at his shop; it's full of good people who really love cars (a rarity in this day and age). The cars parked in the employee section were almost more interesting than the customer cars. How does an S-10 with a tube frame, or a Civic with 500 horsepower, or an STI swapped GC impreza track car sound?
