Hi All,

Trying to get my '90 Integra back on the road.  I believe I have a bad distributor.  Looking at RockAuto, there appears to be a piece (ground?) missing on the Spectra part vs. the Cardone:

No other information given on RockAuto's site about having to swap anything over, and I know some service rebuild distributors get rewired, but was curious if anyone more familiar with Hondas than I am could comment before I pull the trigger.  The Cardone setup matches the one on the car.

Thank you,

Flynlow

Rock Auto is an assortment of other warehouses, they are more like a drop ship company.

That doodad is a condenser. It might have to be transferred over.

I'd (grits teeth) get the Cardone if it looks the same.  There are quite a few bad applications at Rock Auto, they just go by what the other people list it as.  The wiring harness looks different too.

Thanks Pete.  Wiring appears to be the same, both have the correct set of OBD0 plugs, though my first post had a bad angle for that:

I didn't have to deal with distributor issues on my challenge CRX, but the conventional wisdom seemed to be that nearly all aftermarket Honda dizzys were junk, and the OE ones could be rebuilt (replacing the coil seemed to be the #1 issue for the d16 distributors, YMMV).

What is the issue that leads you to think it is bad?

The car quit running mid-trip and would not restart.  Started losing revs and power, then died completely.  Cranks, has fuel, no spark.  Plugs look fine, wires meter out OK.  Assuming coil or ignitor.  Coil shows 0.9 ohms on the primary winding, so probably the ignitor or damage to the distributor housing itself.  When I removed the distributor to open it up and took a look, the shaft had excessive play/wobble.  By luck the local pick and pull had a 1st gen Integra in the yard, but that distributor was completely seized, and the inside looked quite corroded.

I have heard the same on aftermarket options, but I don't want to run through a bunch more junkyard/used possibles to try and get a good one.  Both of the rockauto options listed claim limited lifetime warranty (not all do, part of why I picked these), so I was hoping I could exchange it in the future if it's junk.

Just wanted to post resolution here if anyone searches a similar topic in the future:

Put the new distributor in (went with the Spectra) and the car fired right up.  Warmed it up and set base timing with a light, and all appears good.  Plenty of other issues to be fixed on the car, but this one goes in the win column for now.
