My '07 Accent has a slight oil consumption issue. It's nothing worth worrying about yet, but... 8)
Presuming someday I decide to search for a junkyard engine, are their any other bigger/more powerful Hyundai mills that would drop in without too much effort?
The easiest swap is the Beta II from the 03-10 Elantra. You have to fab a passenger side mount, the front/rear bolt in, and the trans bolts up. The bigger issue is the lack of MAF sensor on the alpha compared to the Beta. But, you cut the MAP sensor plug, extend it and use the MAF sensor wiring and done. At least on the older cars.
As far as oil consumption, 1-2qts every 5k miles is pretty common and normal for the Alpha. That's how I knew it was time to change the oil!
