No need to do anything special to disable switch pitch. Iirc 12v puts it in high stall so no voltage is low stall. If you really want you can put a standard TC in there but save your switch pitch one as they are hard to find.
I'm really rusty on it, but I don't think you can swap TCs. Something about a regular TC covering the switch-pitch port and causing lube issues somewhere.
There is an easily off-the-shelf adapter available. Then I have a free transmission and a free TC that I know works and will fit without any extra work. This is how you keep an easy engine swap easy :) It's a pretty well-understood path, right down to "if you pull the water pump you won't peel the AC control box off the firewall".
Gotcha. 6 of one or half dozen of another. I was just thinking a good, testable BOP 400 would be cheaper than the adapter.... but I have no idea what an adapter costs
You have chosen... wisely.
Yes :) I spent last weekend finishing up the kitchen reno and working on the Subaru engine in the Westfalia. Working through the list...
"Subaru engine in the Westfalia".......hmmm, is this lurking elsewhere here?
There’s a shop near me in Berkeley that pretty much just puts Subaru engines in Westfalias. Bus Lab it’s called. They are always busy.
you have a build thread for yours?
Not really. It came to me with a 2.2, which spun a bearing and generally committed suicide in the middle of Utah. I replaced that was a 2.5 Frankenmotor. The end :)
Actually, I’ve had a lot of fun playing with it over the years, but it’s not a build thread sort of vehicle.
May we have just two pics please......front to rear pass side and the lid on the bullet opened pretty please?

With your complete and total immersion into all things TESLA....can we presume this way ON the back burner....say perhaps sometime next year???
The Tesla doesn’t need work, just driving :) The Westy is getting some new brakes, I need to do a fly and drive for the oldest Miata on the forum and there’s a big Miata event at Laguna. That’s all in October.
This engine was a crime of opportunity. The Caddy is working up to the top of the list, but it’s not there yet.

Isn’t the 200-4R what they run behind black RWD V6 Buicks that lay down sub 10’s on slicks? Should hold up fine to a stockish Cadillac.
Yes... sub 10s on slicks where the torque peaks at 4500 in a 2800-lb car with 4.10s and $6000 worth of billet transmission parts. Not 550 lb-ft at 1500 rpm in a 4500 lb car with 2.90s. Big difference.
aaand the BGN 2004R was a completely different animal from the slushbox behind an Olds 307 or Caddy 4100.
