I love 5-axis machining! I taught engine shops how to use their 5-axis packages to replicate their hand-ported cylinder heads and blueprint blocks on the machines I used to sell and support..
Now I've jumped ship, and help lots of people working with multiaixs machines with all kinds of cool stuff, like impellers, compressors and turbine blades as well, working for the software company that produces the cam software.
http://www.turbocam.com/ <= most impressive five axis shop I've ever been inside. Wall to wall machines cranking out titanium and aluminum Impellers for turbos. Some centers were fully lights off capable, they had robots feeding four machines. Load hopper for robot with impeller blanks and shut off the lights. Come back on Monday to stacks of fully machined parts. Tool break and on machine diameter sensing are critical.
