Turned in the 13.23@109 slip.
Track surface was absolutely hot garbage and slow. Asked a few fellow competitors and they echoed the same sentiment. They all slowed way down from Rockingham.
Ill quit bemoaning how bad bristol is and say, time to make some miles towards The House of Hook!

Sad not seeing Atlanta Dragway on that map, since it closed down in 2021. It would have made the route an almost perfect circle, being halfway between ATL and Greenville. I made it to one of the last test and tunes there.
If anyone is wondering, since I reset the mpg meter somewhere in Indiana, fantastic mileage.
That includes all passes and adventure driving.
So on yesterdays drive probably 10-15 min out of North Augusta SC, I witnessed the most redneck thing ever....
Driving along and see a vehicle ahead parked on the side of the road with blinkers on. Think nothing of it until I've slowed down to about 35-40mph to swerve around them. I see a gentleman with a dollar general bag in hand and stuffing something into said bag. My eyes glance down at the road to see a trash panda about ready to pop... Yes homeboy had stopped and cut the damn tail off the 'coon and was taking it home!!!
Some people's children....

Keep your head up, I bet the next one you see will still have its tail so you can grab it lol
Goldstone - spun 7.29
Viper - 7.06 with a cf hood blowing off. Billet manifold is missing the upper half.
12.992@111.95
Definitely is the house of hook as it bogged bad even with a near 3k launch. Back to try it again.
Turned in the previous 12.99 slip as I don't think the clutch is holding like it should. I made another pass but it was slower. Not to bad for the stock oe ford clutch and transmission.
Onward to Darlington where this circus started!
Even with missing a few important details in the driving directions, made it to Darlington/Florence.
Finally figured out why this thing was so sketchy in the rain....
Oops.
Finally broke something. Exhaust came loose from tire shake. I promptly dragged it at least half track.
But right now, fixed is fixed with the great guys in the silver Malibu from TN lending me a jack and some wrenches. Shoved it all back together for right now with a small exhaust leak.
And made another pass and the exhaust fell off again. Just happened to be the other side.
But fixed is fixed until home with the help of my pit neighbors.
It might leak a little.
But with all that, I ran a 13.14@111, which was turned in for todays time. Average over 5 days was a 13.05.
After all that, I can say....
Now to fix the broken and plot the next upgrades.
Rolled into homebase in Michigan at about 11am after leaving Florence SC around 230-3pm. It's a 15-16 hr one way drive. Filled up at the sams club in Florence and ran on to almost fumes to the bucee's in seiverville tn. Made it to a Kroger in Harrison oh from there. Made a few in town stops before getting just enough to make it home from Grand Rapids. Still averaged 25.2mpg.
Exhaust held all the way home. Active exhaust switch in the car doesn't make much difference in how loud the car is at any given moment.
Clutch held but it's more light switch than being able to modulate it.
Now to work the channels for a transmission, clutch, driveshaft, new tires, exhaust, suspension stuffs for hopefully Sick Summer. Plus get the ex's explorer st ready for that too.
I've been following your thread, and the live feed once or twice, and this event kept getting higher and higher on the 'I should do this' list.
I don't have a 9 second car laying around, but seems like if you have something decently quick, and you have the right attitude, you'll be welcomed along. Is that a fair assessment?

Just bring your slowass junk, a smile, and a good attitude.
I met new people almost everywhere. The silver mailbu, 302q, was from tn and chatted with them a few times. The dude in the Camaro next to me on the last day sent me a video of my last pass from the tower, realizing it was me. Met the silver 72 pro street Camaro, 16C, at the brown mountain overlook checkpoint. Everyone is nice. We are all in this to get to the end of this "vacation".

Sounds like my kind of event. I'm willing to run my slow junk, just don't want to be 'that guy'.
Hopefully its east of Rockies next year, that'll help with joining in.
