Factoring in the craigslist condition reality multiplier, something classified as "extremely rusty" must have actually returned to ferrous rock.

FC170's are the rarer of the breed. If it indeed has the hurricane six, then it is even rarer. Dually's would be rarer. The FC150's were basically a cj3 with a truck body bolted on top, therefore actually limiting their ability to be used as proper trucks. CJ chassis are flexy for a reason. Most of these trucks are very nose heavy and will tip forward on steep descents. A common mod for them and unimogs is a weight box in the rear to stop endo's from happening. They are cool looking.

Who needs to go off road? I am a city boy. My dream FC looks more like this

Actually it would be more old school rod based on steel wheels with dog dish caps but it would be close to the ground.

"Extensively rusty" my ass! In New England that would be advertised as practically rust free. Southern pansies.

In reply to jrflying:

agreed. It could be soo awesome in so many ways, but I would need the metal fabrication skills required to basically make the whole thing from scratch using that rusty pile as a template...

That blue one, though, if produced, might make me actually take interest in jeeps/trucks/off roading. Definitely so if they made it in a van form. OTOH i wouldn't have the cash to actually buy it.

the 170 was much more of a truck and the 150. They were even available with dual rears and a 4spd trans. The all had the 225 cu/in six.

hurricane motor was a 226 six with ohc. 225 was a buick oddfire v6 called the dauntless.

You are correct. The huricane six is technically called the "super hurricane."

kinda goofy when they use the same name for 3 engines or something.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willys_Hurricane_engine

Holy crap, that's cool!

My uncle owned a lawnmower shop and had two of them as shop trucks. I was too young at the time to know if they were 150s or 170s. I also remember a couple of gas stations around here that had them as tow trucks.

There's an adapter to get the Zetec to the T-90 (3 speed) that was available in these. I think this one has a T-98 and I don't know if that would work, but I think it would be a cool swap.

I still think everything about FCs are cool.. a lot of that may be part of my ex-career as a commercial driver. All the trucks we had were cabovers, so I may be a wee bit biased.

That said, just imagine what a modern full size pickup would be like as a cabover

I caught that show the other day, for the most part it sucks. But the green Chevy wagon with the blown rat motor was pretty cool.

The OHC engine never made it into the 170. They came with the "226"(corrected) flat head engine only. The Tornado OHC engine had a disp. of 230 cu.in.
