Please post some epic builds here. I want links to V8 Fiestas, V12s in e30s, twin motor ice cream trucks, 510s with 3 rotor swaps, tank motors on snow blowers, 996 powered Vanagons, Corvette powered go carts. Plus Supra motors and Big Blocks in anything!
We need a spot just for Challenge car builds
the really good ones have their own threads, the rest of us just keep welding crap onto crap

Workin on it - dunno if I can claim epic - one-man slog to make a 5.0 mgb. Couldn't bring myself to compromise on some stuff - gonna be close if I make it as a competitor or go exhibition. Wheels/tires are kind of an issue, but no time to go hunt for cheapies - too much fab stuff to go...haven't got a build site yet either.
Here you go:
Kick-a-build
Just wish he would get off his ass and finish!!

hahaha - that is like a window into my soul. If it wasn't for wizzer wheels and welding wire my car would be... attractive and dependable :)

... I do miss the build log section of the forum that we used to have :(... seems there where so many different projects going on... sure I like the sub feature on this new system but i miss parts of the old :(
This one is one of my favorites. Unfortunately something happened in the builder's life, and he stopped building/updating the thread. But while he was full-bore into this project, the skill and speed of progress were awe inspiring:

Looks like the Alfa suffered the fate of the majority of projects.
I wonder what stalled the progress. Looks like it could have been something amazing.
Hmmmm, I like it, might have to think about that one, project number 12
That's coincidental! I was reading this post and the VW Transporter RaceTaxi showed up in the "Readers Rides" window at the left. I remember that being quite an epic build:

The new readers ride section seems to have all the tools a person would need to turn it into a nice build thread.

Then go to the readers rides section (on that board) and we should not see you for a year or more.

I thought the McBearen (Honda-powered McLaren lookalike) thread was pretty incredible.
How about a turbocharged ecotec chevette !

I don't think it's "EPIC", but I think I'm going to pretty pleased with it........
E30 + OBD-I S52 with equal length headers + Wilwood calipers

I remember when that was posted here in its planning phase.
While it's great to see that he's gotten far on it, it's yet another example of big plans being thwarted by the realities of life.

It does! I did the 7 build thread style:

Not epic, but still an example of how the GRM software can be used properly.
I can't find the Durocco build thread
There was a mid-engined Volkswagen hatch but I can't find it either
LS1 Civic:

I'll have to browse through it, but this may be my new fav. website. A blog specifically for cool build threads...

THAT was frickin cool. IIRC, dude was REALLY close to $2k as well.
Yeah, the RR section actually offers quite a bit more than doing it in a forum, and we keep adding features based on your suggestions.
If you want to see challenge cars, go to the Challenge page:
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/events/2009-challenge/
Then click on "entrants" in the right-side column.
That will show you everyone who says they're coming, and if they've made it public, their car. Here's the direct link:

In reply to 2002maniac:
Thanks. I guess I had that jab coming. I tell you, after starting a new job it gets hard. There is so much more work involved in these project than pictures can ever show. I hope to finish the car in the spring. But you never know.
I did not realize that the RR section was set up so well for these builds. I will have to work on getting mine set up.
Keep adding more LINKS.
Great e30 track car build, complete with kevlar widebody kit.

Another great E30 race car build:

^I know the second car. He's given me a great deal on a bunch of my swap parts and welded up some rust for me last year as well. Great guy.
He's pretty good behind the wheel too.
