Edit: Topic should be Car Care!
I've always waxed my cars 2-3 times per year. Historically I was using Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0. It was easy enough to apply by hand, beaded water for a long time, and the cars looked great. In the last couple of years I've been using other waxes (like a Mothers cleaning wax) because it seems like NXT went away as everybody moves towards ceramics. I was still very happy with my results. But, I just purchased a new car ('24 Elantra N 6MT) and I'm thinking it's time for me to update my car care process. Probably time for me to learn more about these ceramics.
I know you can pay a professional to do a long lasting ceramic coating. I'm not interested in this because I'm cheap, I like to DIY car things, and I don't like having other people touch my cars.
I see there are quite a few consumer grade "ceramic" products but I'm not sure what to make of them. Meguiars has a "Ceramic Wax" that you spray onto a clean wet car and then wash away. Seems super easy. Are the results and protection really anything close to an old school wax? Please learn me!
If it matters, I'm planning on keeping this car for a very long time, it will spend a lot of time outside, and I want it to stay looking very shiny!
