So a friend of mine picked up a mechanically beat te72 corolla coupe for free. It's an automatic, and the motor is shot but it appears to be basically complete otherwise. Teach me about these cars, all of them rusted away long ago back east where I'm from so I've never really seen one before. What should I know about them? What should we do with it? Are parts still out there for them? Furthest north $2016 challenge car?
The Puerto Ricans were adding insane amounts of boost to T blocks and drag racing them. I don't recall how fast, but I think 9 second range.
Try more like 7s. There's 1000rwhp+ 3TCs out there.

coupe or 2 door sedan?
What would you like to know?? Much of the AE86 aftermarket can be utilized

Ok so it's a 1981, 2door hardtop, and we might have a line on a near free 2rz motor and manual transmission too.
I'm going to start looking at the links already posted and get back to y'all, it's been a long time since I've had a car project. Thinking track days, drag racing, and general hoonage on a challenge budget. Ideas and tips always welcome.
2dr Hardtop??? I'm jealous!!

I love the old Corollas (I had a 1978 2-door) but to me that white one looks ugly with the body kit and choice of wheels.
Before I found my bondo buggy 2dr sedan, I searched high and low for a 2dr hardtop. They were either insanely expensive, insanely rusty, or both.
Of course the thread made me look and I found this: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4803736252.html
Just in case anybody needs a Liftback.

My Locost donor was insanely rusty. Good thing it was cheap.
my first car was an 82 4dr sedan, 3TC and an auto. We bought it for $600 from a drunk guy at a motel in 1992 with 239k miles on it. The only thing that didn't live forever were starters - they mount under the exhaust manifold and get cooked. Also rebuilt the trans but I think the PO pulled a trash trailer with it. And yes, they rust. Continuously.
I beat the HELL out of that car for 3 years until I bought a truck, then my mom traded it in on something. Up until five years ago I'd still see it around town occasionally, running. I still have a soft spot for them. If I ever find a 5 speed wagon I may have some 'splainin to do.
