190 Treadwear requirement, what are the best out there?

They will be on a 3rd gen Camaro, a V8 car.

Most searches came up with this, but the information is several years old

"The Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec is probably the best 200TW tire for the money. Also check out the Kumho MX and Falken Azenis RT-615K."

Bridgestone rivals are good. They likelots of camber or you will destroy the outside edge.

Dunlop zII star specs are good

Hankook rs3v2 are good as well.

I think the fastest is the rival if you can get them.

Do not get the rival "s". They are for autocross and will not last.

We always used the Falken Azenis with good luck. On a Civic, they would make two 14 hour events. One event on the front, one event on the back. I have no experience with the other tires.

I bought 2 sets of the Kumhos for the chumpcar Integra and we hated them. They had this slip-n-grip tendency we lived with as we used them up (not gonna throw away usable tire, even if they suck). We ended up with a set of well worn Falken 615ks we tried out at a track day last year and my wife informed me that if I knew what was good for me I would buy those for the next set.

In short, I recommend the Falkens over the Kumhos in crapcan racing.

I'm not the technical expert, but I can tell you we run Rivals on our cars. They wear really well and I find the grip to be very predictable. Like any tire, they'll get greasy when hot. However, even when greasy they're still predictable. I just back off a lap or two to let them cool and then get back after it. I'd highly recommend them.

Dunlop Star Spec II, Bridgestone Re-71R is quicker but won't last as long. The Rivals tread separated on us.

Look around the garage and see what other teams with similar cars are using.

Based on the number of DD miles a friend has on his ZII star specs (plus some autocrosses), they should have no problem lasting long enough. Rivals seem to last pretty well too, although the star specs should be a bit more grippy than the original (non-S) Rivals.

I liked the RT-615's on my C4 'Vette. Autocrossed for several seasons and 4 or 5 track days.

What size do you want? The biggest 16" is only 225. You can get 255 and 275 in 17".

We run star specs on the Rx-7 and Rivals on the Miata. I like both. The Rival has silly amounts of grip for its wear rating. Both are very good but Rival > Star Spec

I've seen a few people use the new Yokohamas with good results at a WRL 16hr at Texas World Speedway.

I may have to find 17s just for the tire sizes

the ORIGINAL Star Spec, the ORIGINAL Rival ... not I said original ... they weren't quite as grippy as their replacement, but they were better for LeChump while the new version is better for autoX

all the 200 TW tires will slick up on ya. all you usually have to do is back off a tick and let them recover ... sometimes even less than a lap

getting on into some 300 and 400 TW tires and you'll cut down on pit stops (for tire changes, this usually reserved for front runners) but will affect your lap times .... yay/nay ... six of one, half a dozen of the other

a good compromise choice is the Falken ... very predicable, (both on the pace, and on how it'll slick up on ya) but they do a very good job

The last Rival (non S) were made last summer. It's a supercession. Had heard great things about a dark horse value option- the Primewell Pz900. Not in the league of those mentioned, but useable for these duties

The rivals will be made again this spring (non s).
