Looking for real world MPG #s

09 wrx with stage 1 tune. I log my miles and fill-ups, so these are all calculated (trip computer shows about 0.8mpg higher than reality)

Over 92,000 miles I have averaged a solid 24.1mpg, in roughly 50-50 highway/city/suburban driving. In fact, almost every "normal" tank is 24.0-24.5mpg for me, and I have a lead foot. Mileage didn't change at all pre-tune and post-tune.

Logging "highway trips" long distances (multiple tanks) shows 27.0-27.5mpg maintaining ~80mph. Keep it at 63mph and car will go 29mpg all day long. Do over 80 constant and you're looking at 26.

I've never had a tank under 20mpg, including tanks that had autocrosses or gridlock traffic on them. Not once in 90k miles.

One downside is that I do have to run premium.

My is300 gets like 23 average and the zzw30 mr2 with the potato gets like 28 average. both driven hard constantly.

Not what you asked for, but similar

2010 Saab 9-3 sport-combi 27mpgs with 75 percent hilly Highway. 2.0T with 6 speed. With a tune it will stick with the speed3 while probably retaining 20 percent better mpgs and more comfort.

Cobalt SS turbo. 28mpg combined. I can't think of another car that comes close in terms of performance and fuel mileage.

Neon R/T. 32mpg on 87 octane. 100 horsepower less than the Cobalt though.

new Forte SX hatch. 201hp, 34mpg highway and good looks to top it off.

I logged 20000 miles on a hemi challenger 6 speed with the 3.91 rear. Consistently got 15-17 mpg town, 23-25 mpg highway. Personal record of 27 mpg highway but that was rare.

The auto hemi's got cylinder deactivation and used regular gas, but were rolling changes, not sure if magnums got them as they were killed off early.

07 Speed3 I get 18-20 in town 26-27 on the highway driving 80+. The car is more fun than a barrel of monkeys, while not attracting the attention of The Man.

07 Honda Fit=I averaged 32-34 in general. 36-38 on longer trips. Lowest ever was probably 30-31 beating the living snot out of it.

10 Mazda 5=I average 25 driving around town with minimal highway. Lowest has been 22-23 with being stuck in traffic quite a bit. Lately has been 28-29 with more highway travel and keeping it between 65-70 and using the cruise control. I'm sure I could see 30 on a longer highway trip using the cruise and keeping it around 65.

Our MazdaSpeed3 averages (mixed driving) about 24 with "normal" driving. It will do 28 ish on freeway trips. Daily numbers will go lower with spirited driving, freeway number can go up a bit with lower speeds (e.g. 65)

Are you really getting that much from the E36 M3? I'm getting 21, maybe, combined. Hwy 25 give or take at 70-80. It's a 95, so maybe they put the unicorn poo magic in the others, but I'm *highly* skeptical of that 27 combined figure. Never *touched* 30 on the highway even at 60.

My 97 E36 M3 gets about 24 mpg in mixed driving / around town. On the highway at 80-85 (with occasional triple digit blasts) it will return about 24-25mpg. (my 3,600 mile Midwest trip last year averaged about 25mpg) Last week I got 30 mpg heading up to Jacksonville and back, (about 160 miles round trip) but that was on A1A, which is largely 50mph or so.

This is a 160K mile car that is largely unmodified--- engine wise. You may want to make sure you are using the 4-prong spark plugs, as they tend to give better mpg:
