I saw a few weeks back that Mazda renewed the patent on the MX-6 name.

It's a long shot, but I hope they bring back some sort of sporty coupe with 4 seats.
Hey Mazda, how about:
A. take the MX-5 chassis, stretch it a little, and call it good? :)
Or B. make a fun FWD from the 3 plus the turbo 2.5 motor.
You can hire me any time you want.

I loved my ‘96 V6 even though it was underpowered. It looked a little like a coupe version of the NB Miata. +1 on a new 4-seater based on the MX-5 chassis and styling!
E36 M3, just wipe the ugly off the forthcoming 3 hatch (nightmarish C pillar) and call it the mx-3 and I'm even more excited. I suspect that the mx-6 means they'll be making a 2 door version of the mazda 6 now that it have the 2.5 turbo in it already, that's really a nice package that I continually forget about.
Mitsu revived the Eclipse name....look how well that worked out.
In reply to John Welsh :
Haha, yeah, that was sad.
It seems like the market for 2 door sporty cars is pretty thin these days, at least outside of the expensive stuff. It's basically the Toyoburu, and that's about it. Oh, and the 2-door Civic Si.

A coupe based around the mz3 architecture with the boosted motor out of the 6 would be interesting. Probably an autox slayer til it got regulated to berkeley and back, too.
Yeah, especially if they put wide enough wheels on it. I wish they’d start putting something wider than a 7” wheel on their cars, hurts them for the stock classes at least.
One of the sexiest shapes of the '90's. I so badly wanted one. When I bought my first ever brand new car it was early 1997. My final two candidates were a V6 MX-6 and Integra GS-R. The Acura dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I'd be all for an updated version of the MX-6...
Theres a clean, well preserved white example for sale locally. Its beautiful.
I have resisted stopping....
Yeah I loved the looks of that 2nd gen car, but never got the chance to drive one.
I did drive the first gen; a non turbo that I remember liking, but it was aaaaages ago.
Sounds like another coupe designation that will be made a 4-door or Crossover because nothing sacred anymore.
