I picked up this 1972 Campmobile today and drug it to the shop to get running. All the interior parts are there and I'm looking forward to getting around in this thing. The best part was when we opened the sliding door and was browsing what all was inside, we saw the below pictured little guy staring back at us... That's where the name "Mr. B" comes from.

Love these! I had one as a kid.

1972 was a transition year - should have the big taillights but the old style bumpers and low mounted turn signals in the front. Also, first year for the 1700 cc twin-carb Type IV motor, but (sadly) no second engine access hatch from the bed area - that was added in '73.

May it bring you good fortune.

I had a VW camper bus (69) that I bought from a TV station. They had it vinyl wrapped with darma and greg on one side and that 70s show on the other.

Someone at some point in the bus's life had used a label maker to make a sticker that said "warning: close all windows above 140 m.p.h." and put it on the steering column. I always thought that was the best part of the bus.

People are going to hate me for this but - Subaru Swap! A 2.2L from an older Legacy or Impreza will motor that thing down the road nicely. 140Hp and a 5 spd.

SWEET score!

I had one of those, but needed a truck more, so . . . out came the Sawz-All and a can or two of flat black.

One of my best friends in HS had one for a few months, I think it was a '72 too. Westphalia too. Thing was slow, he had the rings done and it still smoked, so he got rid of it for more than he paid for it (we picked it up in a pretty sketchy part of Detroit where kids kept breaking into it). Interior was pretty nice but we never used it for anything more than riding around in. Not sure how well the "appliances" worked.

Neat ride. Word of warning (and I know I sound like a dad here), in ANY kind of an accident your feet are the crumple zone. This summer a friend of mine lost his left leg just below the knee. He was stationary at a stop sign and was hit by a tacoma going maybe 25 mph.

Nice score, looks like this one's got some authentic history with it. :)

Buddha and the empty Bud Light cases are a nice touch! LOL Does is still smell like pot inside? I bet if you look hard enough you might find some of that stashed some place in there too. I remember reading a story on thesamba.com about someone finding an old dried up pound of it in some little storage compartment in their bus.
