I am getting closer to starting up the Miata for the first time. I am looking for a Megasquirt base map to get it started and have a base for tuning.

Specs:
1990 Miata with 2004 Mazdaspeed 1.8L turbo engine
All 1.6L sensors in place on MSM engine
MSPNP 90-93
No MAF/AFM, using IAT sensor
MSM coils, deleted 1.6L ignitor

I am also wondering what firmware I would need to flash to the ECU, if any?

Latest firmware: http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=43895 Try www.turbomiata.com or www.msruns.com for a basemap

It's a MS1, would the latest firmware you linked work for that? I haven't seen the msruns forum before, I'll poke around there. Thanks.

Another thought...would I be fine to start with the 1.6L basemap w/o AFM and tune from there? Obviously changing the required fuel settings and dwell for the MSM coils. Would the spark map for the 1.6L NA be ok to start?

Sure, but you'd need to add some cells up top on both the fuel and spark maps for when you go into boost. Can you wedge the wastegate open on your turbo so that it doesn't make boost? That would be a good way to check the map initially without going into boost.

Also, I may be wrong but I thought the MSPNP ECUs were MS2 based?

They are now, I have one of the earlier systems on the MS1 platform that I bought used.

That should be OK. The tables go into the boost range and we've set it to be pig rich and pull a ton of timing in the boost area. So they should be a decent starting point.

Thanks for the reply Matt. I got a map from dashpot but it is using high impedance injectors so I will have to redo the fuel table. I will be using TunerStudio with the autotune to get my fuel close so my main worry is the spark tables since I don't have a knock sensor.

I also need to modify the MS for the MSM TPS but that looks pretty easy using the instructions in the manual.
