Ah ok... changing the connector on the harness to use a different bulb was my plan if i found an 05 driver's side before an 04 passenger side. I'm not real OK with only changing one.

I suppose i'll take the 05 apart tonite and see if that's really all it would take.

Sorry for the thread jack, but holy cow reasonable prices on things!

Yeah! Even if i don't find what i'm looking for right now from this thread, i've found places to buy parts from in the future.

My next "want" after the trip will be a set of "small tupperware" and i bet it'll be cheap from some of these guys.

What's wrong with yours? I just checked car-part.com and it looks like there's a couple nice ones out there for $250, but there's also one with broken tabs for $50 and one that's (I'm guessing heavily) scratched up for $50. It seems like if your lens or back was good you could probably get one of those and make one out of the two of them. Hell, for that matter even if yours is totally destroyed you could buy both of the messed up ones and put the good lens on the good body and have $100 (plus shipping x2) in the headlight.

I know mine had broken tabs at one point, which were repaired badly. And something is broken internally, causing the bulb to "bounce" when driving down the road.

Between the two issues, i can't aim the light up high enough to be useful, and the "strobe" effect is pretty awful.

I'll have to look on Car-Part... i didn't bother with them because in my experiences when trying to find parts from a specific model that DO interchange in that "they fit", it's an utter nightmare. (months of searching and multiple trips out of state to get a passenger side 90-93 celica GTS front fender. I wasn't pleased to drive 2 hours into Illinois to find that they had pulled a GT fender with the excuse "It'll bolt right up! It interchanges!")

Plus I've raced with BTDT Blake in Lemons. Keep it in the family if possible!

The plot thickens. I may be really dumb and/or Project G mixed up what car my "05" headlight came off of. There's clearly a "9006" marking on it, I will upload pic in the morning.

So apparently SOME 05s had 9006 bulbs.

And i've been searching for another headlight for awhile for no good reason at all.

It's OK, you're thread has not been in vain. As it has likely scored me a decent price on an engine.

If you are still looking, I just found this on my local Craigslist. 2004 MSM passenger headlight, $150...

Note that I don't think the pic in the ad is an actual pic of the headlight he is selling.

I think I now have a plan.

  1. Step one, but a set of regular NB lights.
  2. Step 2 take off my spendier MSM lights and put them on the shelf for a few years.
  3. Profit.

This is your rightful punishment for refusing to drive the car with the top down.

I find this incredibly strange that you would fly 2/3 of the way across the country and drive it back.

I didn't know until afterwards.

You'll be pleased to know that i've decided to keep the car, though.... weighing factory hardtop vs. fastback at the moment.
