Orlando Roadsters meets tonight–as in Monday, July 29, 2024. We meet, we hang, we look at cars.
Might bring something other than the Miata.
Of course, this all hinges on the weather.
See you there? Details here.
Address for those who’d rather not click the link: 227 W. SR 436 in Altamonte Springs. It’s right off I-4.
Some Miata people are car people. Some are purely Miata people who get upset when Mazda brings non-Miata Mazdas to an event. Enjoy the reactions!
I hope you're at least planning on bringing a roadster of some sort and not a hopped up Beetle ;)
In reply to DeadSkunk (Warren) :
You know, we actualy passed one yesterday–in fact, pretty sure we passed the same car twice. (And, if that’s not the case, then we saw two of them yesterday.)
What's the Miata meet equivalent of sneaking an MR2 into a Ferrari meet? Bringing a Suzuki Cappuccino?
In reply to GameboyRMH :
Those are all welcome here.
I call it “Miata Night” but, technically, it’s open to all roadsters. Really, there will be some JDM rarities in the crowd, too.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
I brought the Foxbody Mustang to the monthly Datsun meet. It got a warm reception.
In reply to Tom1200 :
How much of that was the fact it was a Datsun long-time regular bringing the Mustang?
That's a lot more accessible from Volusia County. I won't be attending tonight, though. I'm about 1700 miles west.

Probably 50/50. The folks who don't know me loved the car, the folks who do know me were happy to see me and would have liked whatever I brought.
And I shot some film last night, so it’ll be a few days until I can share.
Fun evening and, for July in Florida, pretty reasonable weather. Oddly, not much traffic/craziness on I-4, either.
So, the high point of last night:
“Can I sit in the Porsche?”
Of course, I said, but first you have to open and close the door so you can hear it latch into position. Her face lit up. Seemed to enjoy sitting behind the wheel, too.
I went with my brother to Miatas at the gap. He drove his Miata and I drove my S2k. At the lodge I parked among all the Miatas. Got a good reception. As I was leaving I heard someone joke "there's a Miata with the s2k body kit".
In reply to JimS :
We had a few S2000s the other evening, too, which is normal. I call it Miata Night but, technically, it’s Orlando Roadsters. And if you show up in a BRZ or something cool, you’re still welcome.

When the S2000 first came out, a bunch of us car guys from work pulled up next to one at a light. Had I been more on the ball, I'd have asked the driver: "Hey, nice car, that's the new Miata, right?!"
