I've posted a few hundred photos at:
http://www.f64.nu/gallery2007/
Lots of photos of fabulous cars of all types. Good wallpaper materials for your computer. Lots of Jaguar porn, which is why I went. Among other oddities, a Porsche 911 going past a Porsche tractor, a corvette driver appearing to gesture with his hand, a burning corvette, a 911 with a front wheel off the ground on the last corner, cars in the paddock areas, lotus autocross activities, bikes on the track, scenery, etc...
I took about 1300 photos (on one camera battery charge with electrons to spare) on my digital camera, and 75 black and white film photos with my 4x5 speed graphic. It'll be a couple weeks before we see prints, as I can only process 12 photos at a time. I walked a lot of miles at Road Atlanta and drank lots of gatorade as I'm not used to much heat, and carried lots of gear, but it was all fun. The color photos posted were with my D300 and either 300 2.8, 105f2dc, 50, or 12-24 lenses. The IR photos were with a lifepixel converted D100 with the 105f2dc or 12-24 lenses.
This is my first time going to the mitty or HSR event, and I loved it. I live in a town that has a car museum and it draws people from Maine and NH, but the car scene up here is pretty different than the south and not has high end as the HSR. I was amazed at the variety of great cars on the infield and on the track! I've known about the event for a few years, but needed the motivation of the Jaguar focus and the promotion of GRM and Classicmotorsports magazines to get me to spend the money and fly down to Georgia. I'd been to Road Atlanta before for Saab's Viggen Flight Academy and knew it could be a fun place.
Lots of nice folks of all ages at all activities and interests. One of the things I like about the car hobby is how intergenerational it is; With no disrespect, I would say the car hobby is more inter-generation friendly than most good churches. I've seen this with my 69 E-type OTS and the various classic Saabs I've owned.
I also subscribe to both GRM and classicmotorsports, and sorta wondered how they actually mesh. This event showed me. Great stuff there for all timeless and fun cars.
The only ways I can think to make the event better would be to have a machine gun shoot, then clay pigeon shooting, and perhaps some more food choices.
