Got a question for you lovely people about my miata's top latches. I'm replacing the buttons with the fancy red aluminum ones from FM and I noticed the gap between the button and the flappy part was much different on one than the other. Is this just wear or is one broken in some way?
And yes, I know one of the bumpers is missing. The new one is already ordered.
FM has a YouTube video on how to adjust those.
I've not looked at it from that exact angle, but I suspect that adjusting the barrel adjuster might help. It would be interesting to inspect them both carefully to spot the difference.
I'll try messing with the barrel adjuster after work today. I noticed something was up when the latch with no gap snapped shut like it should and the other one just kinda hits the set screw in the new buttons.
I can take other pictures if it helps diagnosis too. The latches aren't installed right now so that's easy.
