Sometime late last year, someone posted a "Lern Me" about hand held LED lights and the Nebo Big Larry was suggested along with some others. I ordered one of those along with a Neiko 4064 and a Nebo Power Boss. There were a bunch of others too that I gave for Xmas presents but the Big Larry and the Neiko were for me.
Well, the Neiko and Power Boss absolutely rock. They even have the standard drop light function of automatically orienting themselves in such a way as to blind the user. Weird.
The Big Larry on the other hand, had the maddening multi-function single button which meant that EVERY TIME you used it, you had the opportunity to cycle through about six separate types of light. The first wasn't the one you wanted 99.99999% of the time: Main array, white, NOT flashing. Nope, you got the little end light White, then some sequence I don't remember. The main array that you wanted didn't come up until the third or fourth push of the button. Useless. I sent it back.
I attempted to find the original "Lern Me' to post this but couldn't find it so we get a new thread with my rant...
Sounds like you have (had?) the Big Larry 2, not the Big Larry.
Big Larry doesn't have a spot on the top, and has 3 modes, COB White High, COB White Low and COB red Flasher.
Big Larry 2 has only 4 modes with White Spot LED, White COB, Red COB, and Red COB flasher. and each mode except the flasher is dimmable from 100 to 30% brightness by pressing and holding the power button in an infinite cycle from high to low brightness and back to high brightness.
So i'm not sure what the issue was that you encountered...
I'm also curious what the other 2 lights are that you used, i can't find that Neiko light on amazon and google is no help either...
Keeping in mind that spacecadet sits behind a desk and designs these things to earn racecar money....... I agree that sometimes I'd like the flashlights to not be so bright. And I'd like it if the Big Larry that's in my kitchen would remember that I turned it down from 11 billion lumens to six the last time I used it.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
You have to activate the memory mode
user manual 6640 Big Larry Pro
In reply to spacecadet :
Well I'll be. I'm going to read that.
A flashlight that needs an instruction book. We are truly living in the future.

Now don't you feel bad about laughing at your parents' VCR which still had 12:00 flashing on it?
I screwed up on the details of the Nebo light. It wasn't the Big Larry but the Larry Boss Power (which I said I liked...) that I sent back. The other light we kept was the Coquimbo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076V2HJJ4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08__o00_s04?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Neiko: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WI9585I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I stand by my criticism of the LBP: The single power button would not shut down without having cycle through and not going to the main array first made me nuts. I held the power button down on turn on hoping that would send it to the main light and held it down to shut it off; didn't work in either case. I really wanted to keep it because the main light was stellar and I loved the overall design and heft. The switch BS killed it for me. If it had a separate switch for the array, I probably would've bought a couple more of 'em.
Sorry for the mix up. This E36 M3 happens as we get older. And crankier, obviously.
I bought a pair of Big Larry Pros after reading the same thread, and Seth recommending them. The pro only has 3 functions, bight as the sun, red, and blinking red. If you leave it on for a bit, maybe a minute, I haven't read the instructions or timed it, you don't have to go through the other two functions again to turn it off. The next button click is off.
Having a charge base, and a magnet was what attracted me to it. I was disappointed that the charge base didn't come with a wall wart, they expect you to already have a USB charger I guess, and the USB cable that comes with it is really short, like 6".
I guess you can't have everything.
It's already my go to light, and has replaced my old Craftsman rechargeable LED work light.

Oh-oh... As a typical white American male, I did not RTFM. SC is probably going to pull up the manual and say all I needed to do was program it through the USB port or something stupid like that. Crap, you get caught with the goats ONE TIME...

Hehehe, yeah... leave it on for 8 seconds in any mode and the next button push will turn it off.
Also that's a hilarious listing. The product is the Larry boss.... Idk why it's called the Larry boss power....
Edit: apparently cause of how amazon listings work and the first one that was listed on amazon was called that.... hmmm....

The 6" cable is the same across almost every product we sell, just the nature of the business.
Also the stupid wall ports are a ridiculous cost adder, and one we expect every customer already has as home anyway.
Great. Still, all I want in the LED array WORK light is the array and an on/off switch, like the Neiko. I don't want or need a red/white spot with flashing mode. In fact, I don't want the berkeleyin' flashing mode in any of my flashlights. How often do we ever want the light flashing anyway? It's even more annoying when I'm annoyed. "Hey, get offa my lawn!"

For future reference for anyone else who has an issue.
Nebotools.com is the direct website and we have a customer service team who answers phones and email.

I just dowloaded and read the instructions for the Slim. I hate you so much for that. I do know how to work the light better now though.
