I have a 91 740 turbo that has no rear break lights. I have checked all the regular problem area, but still have not got break lights. Switch works, but have nothing to the back of the car. Checked the bulb sensor , have signal in but nothing coming out.

Is there a way to buy pass this and check for other shorts, Or even test the suspected sensor.

If the bulb sensor has power going in, but not coming out, then you should replace it. FCP is my favorite place for Volvo parts.

I haven't ever looked at the pin-out for that relay, but I imagine that if you traced the wires going in and out, you could splice everything together and eliminate the relay. But if I remember correctly, the 740's relay panel behind the ashtray ain't easy to remove in order to do that. Lots of wires going in there.

Forums.turbobricks.com is a decent place to get Volvo maintenance information--just search their maintenance section.
