Just out of curiosity, I understand the reason for the portal axles, but what's the advantage to the inboard brakes?
H1 Hummers (military and civilian) use inboard mounted brakes to accommodate the gear reducing hubs and give the vehicle silly amounts of ground clearance
+1 on the roof-mounted Elise, FWIW
Removed 690 lbs of stereo equipment from truck today

I don't recall ever seeing a photo of your vehicles being wet. And the water appears to be falling from the sky?!
Good call on ditching the system. Truck looks good!

100% correct
8 days of rain a year. My bikes/cars never leave garage in those 8 days.
however, had a very late night. Left H1 in driveway. Must/fog/light rain - H1 got caught
Oh well - it will certainly lower resale value . But the stock market and RE gains, will offset the H1 loss
New wheels and tires are here. Talked to Tom Cepek and had him set me up with cepek wheels and tires . . . Going down 4 sizes!
No more broke rapper!

By recollection, the GVWR was high enough that they were non-catalyst vehicles.

They have double cats or single cats.

"
General Exhaust Info:
1996 Turbo Diesel HUMMER H1 exhaust system described by AM General as a "tandem mounted," basically meaning in that case a Cat. Converter was mounted in line (in tandem) with the Muffler. Not to be confused with AMG's exhaust system for the 1996 Unleaded Fuel ONLY Gasoline power trucks where there is a "Split Catalytic System" utilizing 2 Converters PLUS 2 "tandem mounted" Mufflers under the L.H. Rear Wheelhousing.
- 1991, 1992 & 1993 H1 N/A Diesel: 1 ceramic wrapped Muffler plus 3 Heat Shields
- 1994 H1 N/A Diesel (Canada ONLY): 1 Resonator plus 1 ceramic wrapped Muffler plus 3 Heat Shields
- 1994 & 1995 H1 N/A Diesel: 1 Cat. Converter plus 1 ceramic wrapped Muffler plus 3 Heat Shields
- 1995 H1 Gasser (Unleaded Fuel ONLY): 2 Cat. Converters plus 1 ceramic wrapped Muffler plus 3 Heat Shields
- 1996 H1 Gasser (Unleaded Fuel ONLY): 2 Cat. Converters plus 2 ceramic wrapped Mufflers plus 3 Heat Shields plus L.H. Rear Wheelhousing Heat Shielding
- 1996 & newer H1 N/A & Turbo Diesels: 1 Cat. Converter plus 1 ceramic wrapped Muffler plus 3 Heat Shields"

I almost want to drive the Flex down to you for that sub board just to shove it in and see if works!
I too drove H1s in the service. I too would never buy one for personal use. I can relate to the old codger. I look forward to following along though. 690 lbs of stereo! Wow!
In reply to AnthonyGS (Forum Supporter) :
Yeah, but would you approach a total stranger in a parking lot and tell them their car is stupid and they're an idiot for buying it? What a dick!
In reply to Furious_E (Forum Supporter) :
I would never tell anyone their car is stupid let alone a stranger. I commend Mr2s for his graciousness.
