Wow...
I know the actual story to some extent, but for some reason this time when I looked at it my first thought was "It looks like a TVR without all that pesky subtlety".
I'd say there are many much-less-GRM ways to spend $60k.
I've always liked them in a hotwheels sort of way. There's been a guy on ebay trying to sell molds for a while. I had some thoughts of buying them, except I know that they're unauthorized, and don't want to be sued.

Hey! A Thunderjet! I can almost afford one of those... Thanks Javelin.
BTW, I have one of those too... But it's not stock...

Actually they didn't go around corners. They flexed and twisted alarmingly, and the handling was unpredictable to say the least. I have seen a couple being raced, but not very quickly.
I'm sure that the chasis and handling could be fixed. The cockpit looks like it'd be a bear to get in and out of, and would probably run hot. But I would still love to have one.
We did a Vintage Views on the Cheetah, um, maybe 20 years ago? Wow, time flies. Probably time to review that one.

Seems like with that engine position it at least has a lot of potential.

A review that included a build, sorting, and campaigning of one (or likely, a replica) would get an astounding HURRAH! from my humble and excitable self.

So 70s hot, I would rock that everyday/
I'd prolly classify the Cheetah as one car you must own or drive just to scare the E36 M3 outta yourself once in a while.
