Going to try and shoot features on this:
And this:
At least I think I am. Their English was no better than my German. I'm getting pretty good at miming out "I am from an American car magazine and I want to shoot a feature on your car and not rape your mouth."

Whole mess of new photos from the historic race up at this album: http://photobucket.com/nurburgring24_2012jgp
There's probably dupes because the upload flaked out half way through.
Also check out Facebook page. i'm giving some Nurburgring stickers away.

A guy we race karts with, John Mayes, is racing a GT4 there. Heck of a nice guy and probably worth saying hello to.
Tell him Rob and Ryan Lewis say hi (from Iron Rock).

Two of our buddies are twittering from the race, too:
Patrick Long: @pLmotorsport
Joerg Bergmeister: @JBergmeister
They're driving the Manthey Porsche (car number 10).
Looks like there's a zillion people there, too:

And our buddy Shane Lewis will be starting the race in the #60 Aston Martin. Forecast is for 90% chance of thunderstorms at green flag time, but Shane isn't worried because he says he got one entire lap in practice. Yay.

Audi's live coverage of the race starts in about 30 minutes.

The front straight is open too anyone with a ticket until about 10 minutes before the race starts. I just came back to the media center from that morass of humanity. When you're 5'5" it's ust a sea of armpits and boobs, and one is not worth enduring the other.
I'll head out and shoot the start, then I'm meeting Shane for an interview after his first stint. After that, weather permitting, I may take the long hike through the forest to Karussell. It kind of depends on what kind of sausages the craft services table in the media center puts out, though.

Brutal race so far. They're running out of service crews to replace armco.

I am very jealous of you JG! This is on my bucket list. Would love to crew for a team for the 24 or at least go and watch and party with the crazy Germans.
Good race so far
Thanks for the great photos - I've been streaming the race and it looks like a fantastic event to visit.
Not that I've watched to many endurance races, but that has gotta be one of the crazier endings to one I've ever seen.
"Hmm... where should I stop my car? How about right across the finish line. What could possibly go wrong?"
Or the perfect timing of winning a 24hour endurance race, and breaking your car trying to do a victory donut.
Haha, he ran out of fuel just before the finish line! All of the people around the Tiergarten were kinda going crazy about that one when they heard on the radio.
One of my shots from the British GT racing on Friday.
I really need to look into getting some internet service during these weekend events so that all the updates don't come on Monday...
Finally got back to the internet, so here's some new photos at http://photobucket.com/nurburgring24_2012jgp
Didn't spend much time culling or posting, so they're not the cream of the crop, but you ain't paying for 'em so don't complain.

Oh, and PS, we're back at the track today for some lapping. Only open for 2hours, but that's enough time to have a little fun :)
what are the rules? It looks like anything could run there. It might be a good sendoff to retire the Cavalier. Get a cage and some of the highest treadwear tires sears has on sale and watch the Porsches go by.
You'll need to log in to post.
