There's an easier option out there with a 6-spd. Gen coupe 2.0T/6-spd. plenty of power options, small package and since the Theta II is the "world engine" it almost belongs in there.

There are a lot of wrecked genesis coupes on our Craigslist.

Looks like the bellhousing is integral to the case (parts diagram). It's a Mercedes NSG370 6 speed, was behind the 4.0l in the TJs, 3.8l in the earlier JKs, the newer 3.6l JKs, and 3.7l in the Liberties/Nitros.

I guess any found in a Jeep wouldn't have a tail housing since they would all have a transfer case bolted to them. However, wiki claims the NSG370 was the manual used in the Crossfire, so there's maybe a RWD source for a tail housing, or maybe entire transmission. Reading what Novak has to say about them, it seems that different engines it has been mated to from the OEM have unique bolt patterns.

You can get an rb20/25 with transmission, ecu, harness from an importer for less than 2k here in southern California.

If that's the case then those transmissions will bolt to a m104 or om606.

One of my first thoughts was a Nissan VQ, I also thought maybe a Coyote V8. Those might be hard to keep under budget though.

An EV swap is worth looking into if you can pay all the gas money up front for batteries.

I think both of those motors are too wide for the conquest. Aren't Coyote motors going for $4,000?

Huh ok.

How about a BMW S54? 8000rpm redline, 333hp, and it scratches your i6 itch. They are really starting to come down in price as well.

Unique and Mopar?

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/la4.html

On a more realistic budget... Honda K24, GM 3.6L V6, Ford 3.0L Duratec, if you want to keep it Mitsubishi and want to actually build an engine, and use something sort of period correct, the 3.0l V6 has been turbo'd several times, use a SOHC caravan or K car engine for packaging constraints.

Maybe something Italian with two turbos, known for going 185?

That will keep you busy and and not bored.

If you had a 1uz in and running why not just put another in and add something cool to that to relieve the boredom? Maybe an ITB intake or twin turbos or even a 6-71 blower sticking out of the hood.

Seems like a shame to ditch a 4 cam v8 setup.

300hp? Lots of torque and a proper 80's motor?

I vote 3SG-TE. Once you get tired of 300hp just up the boost and keep going until you need a new turbo and repeat. A Greddy T67 kit will provide plenty of smiles.

If you are interested in a 3SGTE, I have a semi built one from my All-Trac that I'd be willing to part with cheap. Complete with GrpA ECU and IC.
