Hey guys,
We always say that the first mod to your car should actually be the driver, and I want to follow that advice by attending a performance driving school, preferably in Virginia or somewhere within an hour or two drive of Northern Virginia. Does anyone have any experience with any of schools or particular recommendations? Thanks
First I just want to say congratulations on recognizing and addressing the weakest point in a car: The nut behind the wheel.
If you want performance driving, NASA Mid-Atlantic runs a pretty great HPDE program. They Hit Summit Point most often and starting this year will hit the brand new Dominion Raceway. Both are around Northern VA.
If you want more defensive driving, Accident Avoidance at Summit Point is pretty good. My dad had a rule that anyone in the family who got their license and was driving his cars had to take it.

Very good choice as a place to start. One day course with most of the time spent actually in the car.

Awesome- will look into it. Thank you both for your help

at Summit Point. A variety of types of courses ranging from accident avoidance, to off-road driving, to my personal favorite: "Vehicle Commandeering Course" ("This course is designed to teach individuals how to quickly acquire a vehicle without the use of a key.")
I may or may not have taken one or more of these courses
EDIT: Just noticed someone already suggested the accident avoidance course.

Thank you too! The consensus seems to be to look into the accident avoidance course, and it seems like a great value for the price. Will look into it further
