We both voted two weeks ago via mail.
For the Greatest Show On Earth, we live in one of those states where our vote is only worth 12.8% of a "Real 'merican's!"
Can you expand on that? Me no understand.
Wonko: Please don't expand.
NoHome: Just google up "swing states" if you want to do personal research.
Non-political: It doesn't matter your leanings, what matters is that you made your voice heard, preferably in all the races. Government serves at the will of the people. Thank you for voting.
So is anyone else getting inundated with texts asking if you've voted, if your going to vote or if you need assistance in finding out where or how to vote? Over the last couple of weeks I've been getting 2-3 of these per day while the infamous 'we've been trying to reach you about your cars warranty' calls are down to one every 2-3 weeks.

I"m not registered to either party and since my vote is secret neither is willing to take the risk of asking me to vote. I get like no political spam.

Yeah, I didn't want to go too far into the weeds there. But I will suggest also researching the Electoral College. You'll quickly go down a depressing (depending on where you're at :)) rabbit hole that shows how much your vote is worth relative to other states' votes.

Definitely Vote. It's your right and responsibility.
Please do a minute of research on the candidates. Don't just vote republican or democrat. No matter how you lean a candidate may or may not share your views. Vote for the person that would govern the way you would.

We moved to a new place about two-three years back. Wife did a bunch of the change of address stuff. She put my phone number on my voter's registration form. I still haven't forgiven her for that. Maybe I will when this election is over.

I'm registered "no affiliation". I've been getting messages every other day from both sides. One side still hasn't gotten the name right and I've only had this number for 17 years.

I've been replying to every one of those texts with a gif of DMX making angry barking noises. It's been fun.
I'll be voting today. Thanks to OR for making it so easy for us.

On the contrary, I am registered as an Independent so I get panicky texts from both sides on a daily basis, warning me about how the other side is going to pack the Supreme Court. Just one of many many reasons I am registered as an Independent.
DW and I requested paper ballots and after a few weeks we finally received them the other day.
I was gratified to find candidates from my third party of choice all the way down to the state level, plus an entertaining variety of "acceptable write-ins" in a little addendum sheet. I was intrigued to learn of the existence of "President R19 Boddie" (his actual, legal name) even though I probably won't be voting for him.
I plan to drop ours off at the local Board of Elections office this week.
In reply to Mr_Asa :
80% of the laws that will personally effect you are local. Nearly all local elections are free of party so do your research. Find who you agree with and vote for that person for that position.
Your local newspapers are likely your best source of positions. Lacking that city hall sometimes keeps position papers or check with your local league of women voters. ( a good source for unbiased information )
It's hard to get information about some races. Feel free to call the candidates. By asking for your vote they are committed to answering your questions.
I will walk up to my neighborhood firehall and vote like I always do. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't have it as easy, but glad too see so many doing whatever they have to to make their voice heard.

If only there was a platform for taco Tuesday and cheap auto cross tires. Oh well.
Especially now, when a lot of voting locations have been closed, for various reasons, and lines are longer than ever, it's important that we do whatever we can to vote. And if we find that the vote is being suppressed or people are being intimidated not to vote, we should do whatever we can to prevent such things.
Voted in person, early last Sunday in my local library. also heard this:
If you're in Atlanta Fulton County, the Atlanta Hawks have a polling place at State Farm arena with THREE HUNDRED booths. Free parking. In and out in fifteen minutes. NBA doing their part to get out the vote.
In reply to slowbird :
Oh, I will vote at my local polling place Nov 3.
never a long line and plenty of my neighbors volunteer their time.
My take!
If you do not register and vote in this coming election, you therefore waive the right to complain about the outcome of the election. Complaining is reserved for people who have voted for one or the other candidates. So if you like to sit down with your friends with a cup of coffee/beer and discuss how your candidate should have won, you need to vote.
Thank you!

I'm thinking about running on the position of a $1000 fine for every unsolicited text or phone call sent directly to the recipient, with a $10,000 fine if that first $1000 is not received within 30 business days. No limit from any one company.
Who will vote for me? :)
I'm also stuck in the middle and getting both sides (it seems like every hour). But I'm certainly worried about both of the major candidates, as if I don't send in $30 in the next hour, there's a good chance that the OTHER SIDE will win! It's all on me! I can't handle the pressure!

Call me a traditionalist. I'm voting in person. On election day. berkeley Wuhan. berkeley voter fraud.
I am voting in person on voting day. Not because I'm worried about voter fraud (i'm not), but because my voting place happens to be in a fairly wealthy area (I live more in the middle class area adjacent) and never has lines (or at least never has in the last 20 years).
Kitty is serious about voting.
Deposited our ballots in the box at county election office yesterday.

We filled out and sent in our ballots last week.
I have always voted in person, but with numbers spiking all over the Midwest, it just seemed like the safest thing thing to do for my family.

In Aurora, we walked in and out in about 5 minutes. Granted the weather was nasty so we didn't think anyone else was stupid enough to be out and we were right.

Cactus 2024
Also, we don't discriminate against Taco Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sat or Sun.
In fact, I'm considering making tacos my running mate.
As a PA resident I am deciding the election by my vote only. Sorry to roughly half of the population.
