Hey all,
Do O2 sensors have a common thread (diameter and pitch) and if so...what might that be? Most of the one's I've dealt with all seem the same, but in case they're not, this is a mid-80's GM product.
I'm needing to plug where one would go in the y-pipe on my Z28, and figured I'd rather put in a plug than a sensor that will be hooked to nothing. However, the latter may be the best option...
Little help?
Thanks,
Clem

The thread is 18x1.5mm.

Although if you call them, they may sell you a plug w/o the bung.
I've used oil drain plugs to replace oxygen sensors on some cars.

Thank you for that tip...I hadn't thought about that yet.
Between these two replies, I think i'm all set!
Thanks again,
Clem
NAPA stocks them as well.
Damnit Beavii!
Don't make me smack you...
Many spark plugs share the same thread......
I've used plugs from my neon to plug the secondary O2 sensor hole.
I'm sure those of you with an imagination and an appropriately rich burning vehicle can find more interesting uses for the plug. :)
Damn, I need an O2 sensor bung for my Miata's exhaust now that I've removed the race pipe and reinstalled the cat and here you go plugging up a perfectly good one. Any chance you could send it to me if you're not using it?!
By the way, that's an oil pan plug in the race pipe.

Buy a spark plug anti-fouler kit from the HELP section of the parts store. Then, cut off the part you don't need and weld on the rest.
(this is for the bung, not the plug by the way!)
they sell bungs they even come radiused for the pipe.
Turns out my y-pipe does not have an m18x1.5 threaded bung in it. I bought an oil drain plug and it's just a bit too small.
So...does anybody have any other advice on what I might have? It's an aftermarket y-pipe and headers (package deal...I got it used, of course) for a third generation F-body (Camaro/Firebird).
My old engine is not on hand (though I can get to it, eventually) to grab the O2 sensor from.
Thanks,
Clem
