That's a tough call.
The Benz doesn't really have a single sporting bone (lol) bone in it's body. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but, for me, it always comes down to whether or not it's going to be fun to rod around town in. I don't know that a Benzo Barge like that will tick that box.
For that reason alone, I would probably go with the BMW. Also, because E12, that's why.
The Benz has class, the BMW will always reek of Arriviste; the bratwurst equivalent of a ricer.
BMW for ease, Benz to be different.
Ultimately your choice.

Also, he should buy the benz. (When he gets bored with it, he can sell it to another GRMer who will give it the red pig renovation that it deserves.)
