I have two questions here...

1) What front bumper is that?

2) And is this normal price for such a car? It's doing strange things to my pants.

1976 911S asking $8200, will negotiate if the new owner does not want certain items. Condition: Good-average paint job Inside: new seats, carpet, RS door panels,993 porsche badge, Momo shift ,Proto steering wheel, H4, RSR tail lights, Duck tail, racing pedals and 17''(7.5") C2 fake cup wheels. Engine: maintenance up to date. Good running car. The 911S has carrera tensioners Color Silver / black Mileage ~128,000 Project parts still needing added: RS rear bumper (backdate) SC flares New wind shield ( i am willing to install before the sale) New back windshield ( I am willing to install before the sale) New Side window, New seals. I am selling this Porsche to purchase a nice example 914, preferably a 2.0. I am interested in trades if your 914 is a good example with very little needs. PM through craiglist if interested on talking about the purchase of my Porsche. I do not have to sell her, but i do want to sell her before moving on to a 914 Porsche. again, trades are welcome if you have a good example 914 Porsche.

that bumper is a replica of the 1974 Carrara RS bumper. While the 73 is more well known, with the body changes needed to fit the 5mph bumpers the us required, porsche needed to come up with new lightweight bumpers for the new(ly redisigned) RS for 74.

As a guy who knows a guy who's shopping for a 911, I'd probably go with an SC--that's 1977-'83. The look is similar, but the SC came with a much tougher engine. Prices aren't much higher.

He wants to swap a 911 for a 4 cylinder 914? That's a new one.

I'd like an SC, but the prices on them seem to be significantly higher, at least in my area.

Being that i'm a tightwad, i have a hard time paying $10-$15k for a car.

I doubt i'd ever actually track the thing... just more idly looking for something cool. Ran across it, highly doubt i'll even look at it, but looked nifty.

I'm only 23.... i need a "classic" 911 like a need a tongue on my elbow.

Thanks for the info on the bumper!

^Hahahah do it!

The funny thing is... there's a couple nice 914s in the area, too.... i wonder if i could get one for like... $5k, and then trade him.

Better not, if you trade Ms's 914drivers 914, you'll want that roof in tact so you have a warm place to sleep.

Hmm, bad pictures, wires hanging down under the dash, wheels with the wrong offset (or do like he says and add flares, then add another $5k for paint), broken windows (which he says he is willing to install, but for how much? $2500?), for $8200 that seems like alot of money to me.

Was that front bumper originally intended to house an intercooler?

Just idly looking.... i can paint the car well enough to keep me happy if i were to add flares. I have access to a full shop with a paint booth. (where the escort is right now.)

The offset looks ok to me... could be better, but i could deal with it.

I can do the windows.

I think I bought my 85 Carrera when I was 24 or 25. It was a stretch, but I was single, had another vehicle as a DD, and it was exactly the 911 I was looking for. I prefer the Carrera because of the 3.2. I also like the 85 better than the 84 because the antenna is integrated into the windshield as opposed to sitting on the front fender and makes for a cleaner look. If I were you I'd definitely try to spend a little more and hold out for a nice SC or Carrera. They are great cars and a lot of car for the money these days. The driving experience is just incredible.
