yeah, but like this last snow storm, I just drove my G/f's awd saturn vue around, my integra, even with newer year round tires, just doesnt compare.
I'm just gonna grab a set of snow chains and forget about the actual snow tires for awhile.

Case in point, on a snowy day last winter my wife in her 95 altima with dedicated snow tires stopped at a stop sign as normal on the snow. The 4wd excursion behind her, who had left a large gap between them, slid right into the back of the altima. AWD rocks, lemme tell you.
More to the point, My Corolla with snow tires can safely do 60+ mph on the highway on snow, on those occasions that I sleep in too late for work. talk about saving my butt!
besides, I love driving past those 4wd and awd suv's at speed. They just KNOW I'm gonna wreck but I never do. It's all about the right equiptment for the job at hand. minimizing danger is what I'm all about. caution is king on the snow and ice and what better way to show your caution than to blow by everyone else on the road? 
I know this you have to plan for but I got my 4 Hankook Winter Bite for my Civic 2 years ago for $100. Discount Tire usually has a winter tire blow out sale to get rid of extra stock.
But I say invest in snow tires or even check Craiglist like people said.

Assuming for a moment I could even get my Integra out of the driveway there's no way it could have moved on our streets this weekend, regardless of the tires ... 4" ground clearance and 12+" snow=stuck
I tried chains once but they offered no help at all on my Mustang! I don't have a clue why.

I remember a night on the PA turnpike that it got closed for snow. I was driving a 45' Prevost H-class bus. They closed the turnpike in Carlisle, but somehow a few of us made it through before it was closed.
So, I'm driving alone on this desolate, unplowed, unmarked, and unlit stretch of nothing. The snow is well over a foot deep (as I notice as my bus is plowing snow up on the windshield). I happened to notice a state police blazer on my tail. His only hope of moving was to stay in my tracks, but he kept trying to pull around me. We finally hit the Kittatany tunnel and he got beside me to motion me to pull over. I politely radioed him that if I stop I'm never getting started again and he would be responsible for 55 deaths. He kept barking orders at me for 30 miles until he wiped out somewhere around Breezewood.
When I arrived in Johnstown, there was about 18". By the time I got to Indiana, PA, there was two feet and I couldn't open the door. I had to drive up on a curb so the door had less snow to push.
Now THAT's driving in snow; a 45' bus that I have to put the wipers on because I'm driving through snow that's already on the ground.

CAUTION improper use of chains may cause violent oversteer

I completely agree with the above comment. Although, I guess I could always attach a plow like in the movie barbershop, lol.
i couldn't find the exact picture, but this drives the point home....
