pulling mk3 vw codes

I have a 95 golf check engine light came on a while ago and I've been unable to get the car to flash the code.

This is what I'm doing. Koeo jump the 2 pins with a wire count to 3 and pull it out. The light stays on when the pins are jumped but when I pull the wire it goes out and doesn't flash.

What am I doing wrong?

Often under the back seat base is a goofy plastic piece that is shaped like the odb port that has jumpers to trigger the flash codes.

I'd find somebody in the area w/ a VAGcom; there is a website database where ppl list who has them where. The VAGcom goes above & beyond the normal p-codes.

There is no other connector on a 95, and I have never been able to jumper blink mine. Vag-com was the only thing that worked.

Make sure they have the OBD1 pig tail cord for the VAG.COM, most people don't at this point unless they're a professional mechanic.

I've got VAG-Com and the appropriate connector if you find yourself in Evansville, Indiana.

95 uses the obd2 style connector and any version vagcom should work fine.

1995 is still OBD1, VW didn't go OBD2 until 1996.

That is true but 95 uses the obd2 style plug not the 2x2/"ugly" connector like Corrados had. No adapter needed.
