At nearly 50K miles it's time for new brake pads on our Kia Sedona. I have pretty strong opinions about performance pads on my performance cars, but no so much for our family hauler.

The OE pads are ceramic.  They don't dust much or make much noise, but I'm not impressed with their initial bite and would be interested in a better alternative, but... I'm not really sure what that better alternative would be.  An organic or semi metallic pad?  A ceramic pad with a higher coefficient of friction?  What are the go-to brands for ceramic pads?  I've stayed away from them on our previous cars.

I've used ceramic pads on the MPV with perfectly good results.   Probably got the premium Centric pads from Rockauto.  I figure if the brakes were designed for ceramic and it met the OEM's requirements for performance, who am I to second-guess them?

I use Akebono Euro Pros on all of my street cars, without fail.

Quiet, pretty dust free, good bite at nearly all normal temperature ranges, not too expensive.

Same. I love Akebono pads.  There must be some downside compared to a factory extra-dusty pad but I haven't found it.

For pure street cars I've been pleased with Raybestos Element3, you can get them on Rock  Auto, little dust, great feel, no transfer layer issues, nice and quiet and they seem to be lasting a long time. Zero rotor wear yet either.

I was intending to splurge and buy real Toyota front pads for my Prius.  The factory pads last 100k miles in these regenative braking cars.  Even if I spent something like double for the pads, it seemed like still a good value.  I then found the calipers have the Akebono name on them.  The web confirms the pads are from them too.  So, $36 on Rock for Akebonos (and the cheap but coated rotors on Rock.)  I have noticed no difference.  I was satisfied with the factory braking and I am equally satisfied with these replacements.

I had never bought Akebono before for any car.

I use EBC Red Stuff pads one one of my street performance cars and like them - very good initial grip, low dust and goodd fade resistance.

I like EBC pads as well but they are not offered in Minivan fitments.

Right now I'm leaning toward Power Stop Evolution Sport carbon fiber/ceramic, Raybestos Element3 hybrid or Wagner OEX ceramic.  Element3 was mentioned above; does anyone have experience with the Power Stops or Wagners?

previous brake job on Odyssey included Centric Premium rotors and Centric Posi-Quiet pads. Would repeat this formula on any minivan subject to typical use.

Current brake job on Odyssey included Centric GCX coated rotors and Centric Posi-Quiet pads. No complaints.

The Posi-quiet pads on my Branger work fine, but it's almost as if their job is to make dust.  My wheels are a mess every 500 miles.

I have used powerstop and Centric rotors before and was very happy.  Truck currently has Centric.

Another vote for Akebono, i have no idea how to pronounce it but for street use they are great.  I also found out they were the OEM pad manufacture for my SAAB 9-5.

I have a Sedona also. It has centric premium rotors all around and their posi-quiet pads in the rear. The posi-quiet pads were lacking feel when coupled with new rears (6  months in between). So I swapped in some stop tech street pads with favorable results.

Huge fan of Napa's Adaptive One ceramic pads. They're on my daily as well as the wife's Sienna

Centric rotors and Weaver carbon ceramic pads in a couple of the street cars around my place. Really like them. About the best combo I have found. I have found that while bedding them in is not necessary it helps get the brakes up to there maximum potential much faster. I have also found that properly bedded brakes tend to prevent the rotors from rusting as much if the car sits or a week or two.
