99 Miata sport, only driven to events, for fuel runs or for service, and autocross runs. No track laps (no roll bar, and not adding one). No daily use, so it's sometimes weeks of sitting.
Florida humidity starts rust pretty quickly on bare steel. These rotors and pads are from 2018. They've got some pitting (see photos).
The pads are basic parts store pads. They were pretty glazed when I greased the sliders recently, so I sanded them and they were much easier to modulate at the next event. I suspect greasing the sliders was at least as big a factor as sanding the pads.
When I leave for an event, I will do three or four hard stops to clean the rotors and re-bed the brakes.
What's the hive think? Run them for a bit longer or order parts now? Money is tight right now.
