I think a 07+ 4 door jeep would be fun to have, and a lot better on the road than my 79 CJ7. Plus more room for my two kids. But I really prefer the looks of the older jeeps.
Does anyone have any pictures of good looking retro styled jeeps?
Im tempted to see if you could graft the cj front clip on a 4 door jk and see what it would look like.
A couple retro pics I found:

I see a lot of very early grand wagoner and not much cj in that.
You want retro? Start with a 2 door Wrangler. It really amazes me that they have not discontinued the 2 door Jeep. I don't know the official number but I'd bet that 2 doors don't make up 15% of Wrangler sales. Even less % when you add in Gladiator sales. I wouldn't expect a 2dr to be offered if there is a future Wrangler redesign.
I think your best shot at retro is through "graphics"
I'm also a little surprised the 2 door survived the last re-design. But then again, they seem to have kept to the original roots just a little bit. If you custom order it, you can still buy a 2022 model 2 door with no air conditioning!

Yeah the white one is based off the original gladiator grill.
I would want a 4 door for use with the kids. I think a 2 door would be easier to make look retro too. But I want a 4 door.
I think the graphics packages look good and get your part way there. But there is just something still missing.
here is a pic of my 79.
The CJ front end is 3/4 the size of the JK/JL. No way to graft one on.
The front grill is pretty different as well, people don't realize it until you see them together.
the JK/JL is pretty much a rectangle vs the iconic shape of the willys/cj

You could recreate your old yellow. Just need a yellow 4 door, a stripe kit. A soft top. Mirrors that style are available. Chrome the headlights only, add a winch, fogs and some BFGs. Rubbery fenders are probably available too.
I had the 78 version brown with yellow/orange stripes, 304 MT. One of my favorite vehicles.

I've been actively shopping for a 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler two door. If I end up buying a white one (not my first choice) my plan is to add blue Renagade stripes to it.

That blue and white one is just about perfect to me. Not a cj front end but the retro style the actually looks good.

Find a 2018 Golden Eagle and it's already retro.
I know it's not a jeep but there is a 90s full size dodge running around with a gladiator front end and sheetmetal bed. You can immediately tell it's a rebody/backdate but it doesn't look....bad?
To make a new Wrangler cosplay as an old one, start by making it 30% smaller :)
This is "blue betty" from SEMA 2019, built by Lewton's Garage. One of the few vehicles that actually stopped me in my tracks at the show. I've got some more pictures somewhere...
This lives just a couple of miles from me. I like it but the wheels are too aggressive. Retro wagon white wagon wheels like shown on the Honco above would be more my choice. This is the DD of a high school senior girl.
