Any of you 2 door fans ever have to strap a kid into a car seat in the back?
My kids are 8 & 11 and mom does 90% of the shagging around so this isn’t a significant factor for me…mom sez’ get whatever you want so long as it has four seats so I’m just looking to check the box.

I drive my cars into the ground so I know not of this resol, reesail, whatever you said.

Rationalize it all you want to, this is passion man. Practicality has no place here.

Yes. And in my 911 to boot. The boys love riding in it.
Where I live everyone drives auto because of traffic. I hate autos so my 996 is a 6 sp. I will always have a manual and I'll always have a 2 dr.
This is like a Ford vs. Chevy argument among the brand loyal.
Never realized how many people are hell bent on what kind of car should or shouldn't have x amount of doors. I could care less, I buy a car for a purpose. If I want a fast car and it has four doors....awesome it has extra space to haul ass in. If I need a car that has function and has 5 doors and magic seats (honda fit) well that's gonna come home with me. If I want a sporty well balanced car I buy one that was never intended to have more than two doors (S2000, Miata, etc).
With that being said - the 8th generation Civic Si was offered in both 2 and 4 doors. The 4 door chassis was significantly better handling and better overall than the 2 door. Don't always hate the extra doors.
I do miss the days when a person could get a two door, four door or wagon version of the same car.

Is there an 11th commandment somewhere that says, "Thou shalt only have two side doors in a hatchback."
In the mid 2000's my wife was shopping for a car and specifically wanted 4 doors and hatchback. I really like it too. At that time VW was basically the only brand offering it. She bought a Golf that she liked and drove for many years. But we both wished there were more choices. It seems we got our wish and we are not only ones who like the "5 door" configuration.

I just picked up a 4 door GTI a few weeks ago. But only because I got a deal on what was on the lot, and there were no PP 2 doors available. I think I have used the rear door once so far.
My last golf was a 2 door that I specifically sought out for being so. It will be missed =(
It should have stood my ground more firmly in the 2 door camp now that I know I won't have a chance at another.

There were lots of decent looking affordable midsize coupes until recently. The Honda Accord, Pontiac Grand Prix, Toyota Sollara. Nissan and Chrysler even offered less than decent looking coupes for the visually impaired. And the Germans still make a bunch of good looking 2 doors. I think we are just losing out on the hatch market in the name of cost and practicality for the average buyer in that market. Plus I would guess the youth of today don't feel that same stigma of a 4 door that I had growing up.

yes and no.. Yes, I have strapped a kid into the back of a 1st generation Tiburon and no, I have only ever sold one car.. and I got bottom dollar for it as it was a 5 speed Volvo.. and nobody wants a mid-sized car with a 5 speed
When I was trying to buy a GTI (and learned that VW dealers are idiots) they told me that the wheelbase and interior were the same for 2 and 4 door models. This was a guy trying to talk me into a 2-door, when I wanted a 4-door. (say what you will, but putting kids into car seats is easier with 4 doors.)
