First the rust repair is done

Nice result too if I may add
Brokeded 5.0 is out, replaced with Vince power

So far the engine bay has in excess of 150 less wires

and Vince apparently quit...
Roadtrip to get another short block, drove 850 miles to Massachusetts, and picked up a couple of great deals on short blocks, the one for the RX5.0 is a 306 with forged crank, quality rods and pistons, arp bolts and more.
The gang

Jack called shotgun

This is the 306

Meanwhile Vince buttoned up the engine bay

Also scored this 331 as well

You have to grab deals like this..
Found in the pan of the 5.0 before installing it onto the 306

the damage may have tweaked the pan under the balancer, some massaging and fingers crossed

Ordered new pushrods today
$2014 is completed so we are back on track

Clutch is out to get upgraded by Ft Wayne Clutch and Drivetrain.
Clutch guy said the button clutch was good to go as it is, so we put it all back in and remounted the transmission with a new tail housing to replace the leaking old one.
185 AFR heads on a 306 short block, a wild cam with 12:1 compression and all the good pieces inside should shake up the RX5.0. I am thinking an additional 50 hp should be available, or more, bringing it up to at least 425 crank hp. A little over the old stock short block with Trick Flow heads
Then we added a bottle of go juice...

That's the first time I've seen RTV exhaust gaskets.
In reply to The_Jed: Rest assured we are going a different route on that.
Discovered the upper intake manifold has a cracked corner, stopped us starting it up yesterday, but we should weld it today, our new Plasma cutter is also a TIG welder
