I'd like to try autocross in this new-to-me BRZ before the end of the season, we have 3 events left I think.

Reading through the 380+ rule book (rallycross was so much simpler), I see the following apply:

D Street
STX
CS Prep
DS Prep "Limited Prep"(?)
SM

If I read the rules correctly, the added turbo takes me all the way up to Street Modified, and in line with purpose-built race cars.  But asking a local friend, he suggested a new class called XS or Xtreme Street.  I looked up the rules last night after dinner and it sounds more like my car.  An STX car with a turbo.

He said PAX is .854 for SM and .846 for XS-A.  I still have 200 treadwear tires, 9" wheels.  Exhaust and Eibach springs, short shifter, full interior minus the backseat.  Not sure if anything else is done to the engine except a minor tune for the turbo.

I'm thinking this XS is the ticket.  I'm only doing this for fun anyway, but it would be nice to win a shotglass with the SCCA logo if I did decently that day.

Xs is cam for everyone. Street car. Street tires. Plates. Insurance. Crusty French fries under the seat, and E36 M3 rattling around in the console.

Sounds exactly like where you want to play.

XS if you're on 200TW, SM if you wanna run Hoosiers.

I've been running the RX7 in XS since that became a thing last year. Turnout has been great, usually 10-12 cars, always competitive up and down the field, which IMO makes it so much more fun than trophying in a class of one.

Be careful with the transmission in that car with a turbo.

Start looking into the CD009 swap if you want to beat on it.

Yup, that car sounds perfect for XS. We're running an MR2 and Miata there.

Hmmm. What region and how much horsepower? (If you're here in Central Florida and make a lot of power, hey, how about Street Mod? laugh )

Yup, extreme street is what I was looking at for the Probe. Mostly because it has been lowered, which I think bumps it out of all the lower classes, and I don't really want to raise it back up to stock height. It won't be fast, but at least nobody can protest me.

definetely a shoe in for XSA.  Our local XSA group is fast and competitive.  I run in XSB and generally its me and 1 or 2 more people.

That's not remotely true. There's some other limitations but street class is the only one that requires stock ride height.

Minimum weight. XSA is 2750, not sure what XSB is offhand.

Oh. Well, in my defense, the rulebook is long and I can't remember E36 M3. blush

I ride along the struggle bus when reading rules, my comprehension sucks.  I wish there was like a breakdown chart of the basics, like a quick guide.  Like along the top list major, typical modifications and down the left classes, and in the middle Xs with maybe the occasional extra note,  Be like ok...I have this this  and this...lets focus on the maybe 2 classes that may work then read further into it

I mean that exists... If you google "autocross classing cheat sheet" or something like that you should come up with at least two charts that do exactly what you're asking for.

You'll need to log in to post.
