I had fun in our Burban on the way to the junkyard yesterday!
You saw it here first.

In reality, we would have spent the same amount had we started with a nice example. Were you shopping for ruined ones like we were?
My requirements were that all 4 wheels were still attached to the frame in some manner. I'm fine with a big project at the 2k price point, but all the ones I found (Dallas, Houston areas) the 7k ones were rough or ragged out projects, the 2 k ones were unicorn farts.
"I have three kids, we have a lot of running around to do, and I hate the idea of gasoline existing on this planet so I daily an RX8."
or
"I'm supposed to be at work five days a week, but I don't like that concept, so I daily a Milano and quite often I never make it that dreaded office!"
or
"Something Fox-body because I dislike space or sophistication."
I'd look hard at Maximas.
E28 bmw, One with an m30 engine, 5spd, ltd slip rear. Tough engine, no plastic cooling system - not built to a price point. Classic looks, built like a tank, in modern traffic it feels small(ish) and light. Can handle well and can take boost.

When's the last time you had 5 people comfortably situated in either of those cars? I've never been in the back of a Turbo Coupe but I can vouch for a Super Coupe & five friends as being "uncomfortable".

About a month ago. My wife and I ,with three kids (21, 13 and 9) in the back. Two hours round trip to my parents and back.
It's got as much back seat as the wife's Jeep Liberty, not as much back seat as my F350. More fun to drive than the Liberty and burns a lot less gas than the F350.

Yeah, this thread ties directly into my other thread in a lot of ways.
This GRM so in spite of all good reasoning and democratic prodding you will not end up with a Maxima.
Instead, what you should do is buy the equivalent camry and watch it blow up.. lawl
I put 50k miles on a Milano and it only once had a mechanical failure that made it undriveable (well it still drove, but it was leaking brake fluid and I couldn't disengage the clutch so a tow truck seemed like a wise idea for the trip home).

I can never overlook the Maxima, just before I bought the Mazda, I was supposed to look at the equivalent Infinity... Black... With a manual... Don't ask.

I'll second that. You should be able to find an 00-01 with the VQ30DE-K for about that. Those engines run forever and with a few tweaks they are fun to drive (if you get one, ask me).
Boost_Crazy wrote: I'd say that a Maxima would be the best all around car you would find in that price range. I had a '95 SE, it it was a great car. Comfortable, lots of room, good power, and well put together. My complaint was that it was on the boring side driving wise. I never really loved driving it.
it's only boring if it's stock. I always enjoyed mine :)
plus if you get a DE-K model (01-02) it has considerably more power than the earlier 3.0s....

Mine was stock. I usually mod my cars be replacing items as they wear out with performance parts. Nothing wore out on my Maxima. Even the leather on the seats looked new at 170k. Stock it seemed that most attempts at spirited driving just resulted in wheel spin. What years came with an LSD, and how big was the difference? Nice Maxima by the way.
