The biggest downside I have heard to the coupes is there is no targa storage when driving meaning if you take the top off, you gotta leave it at home. A C5 has enough room for a weekend trip worth of luggage for 2 people and you can still pop the targa and stow it in the trunk.

There was a soft top targa as an option and there are other aftermarket tops that store.

There was A LOT of price gouging going on. Luckily our local dealer will not charge more than MRSP, which is what we got the GXP coupe for. Several people wanted it, but I was the first one to get a deposit down. I had to beg to give a deposit because with Pontiac being killed the dealer wasn't sure they would get it, so didn't want to take a deposit. I finally talked them into taking one over the phone and we locked it in. That was a relief and I don't think my wife will ever let me get away with this one again, buying a new car as a fun/collector car, but at least I got by with it this once.

Very good price for that car in that low mileage state.

I waited to find a 1988 Fiero GT used and had to wait 2-3 years. I had the chance to buy a new Solstice coupe and did it the day I saw it - with only 70 or so coming to Canada and only about 1/3-1/2 real sports cars (i.e. manual trans) it could have been years before I found what I wanted.

Dead easy to get around 350 BHP and blow off those C5s, too.....;-)
