So I'm on the fence about what pcm to use in my saturn 3800 swap I was originally planning on using the stock computer with a standalone harness and custom tune but since I'm planning on running e85 I want to be able to run a flex fuel sensor. Would my stock computer be able to use a flex sensor to adjust timing and boost for various grades of e and premium or do I need to just get a ms?

I'm no expert, but in my LS research, I doubt a stock ECM can do it.

There are driver chips for certain functions and GM is pretty consistent about not installing drivers for things the car doesn't need.  For instance, with LS motors, you can't convert from drive-by-wire to cable throttle because it is very unlikely that the ECM has the driver for a IAC motor that would need to be present for a cable throttle.  On servo-driven throttles, the idle air control is part of the electronic throttle and no IAC is used.

Were there any flex fuel 3800s?  Maybe get an ECM from one of those?

I will say that a stock ECM has an impressive list of configurable parameters that work seamlessly with factory sensors.  Hard to duplicate that with an aftermarket ECM

So far the closest thing I've found is that some of the 3500s came flex fuel so I might be leaning more towards megasquirt

So if you go with real WB feedback control, you can use that to detect what the fuel is.  And it gives you better fuel control, too.

Since there's fuel tank feedback these days, you can just to a fuel trim learning for X miles after each fill up.  That's how OEM's do it these days.

Ya the wideband is another thing I forgot to mention I have an aem X-series https://www.jegs.com/i/AEM/017/30-0334/10002/-1 would the stock computer be able too work with the wideband or would it require a narrow band?

The 3800 pcm? I believe it's a 2002

You might be able to do a segment swap with EFI Live and add the tables to your existing PCM. .  Not entirely sure, you would have to read up and ask around on the EFI Live forums.

That would most likely be your best bet, or see if EFI Live has a custom OS written for your PCM.

If Moates makes a piggyback chip for the ECU that's stock to the car, it's a pretty nice setup.

No, that would not be compatible.  Some aftermarket Wb sensors do have a simulated NB outputs, but given that your car pre-dates WB sensors in production, IF it were Flex Fuel, it would likely use the fuel sensor.
