I want to remove the complete suspension from a NA Miata and graft it under a Merkur XR4Ti that has undergone a serious diet. Motivation would come from a 10.5:1 5.7L Chevrolet. Wheels would be 15x9 7ULs with giant Hoosiers because I would have room with all the extra space left from the track differences of the two donors...
Bad ideas are my specialty as is not following through on brilliant ideas.
I have a $500 xr4ti in my driveway and a Miata roller in my back yard...
Bi turbo with 2 13BT in it....
One of the these with a transverse V8 in the back driving the rear wheels while the stock V6 remains driving the fronts.

turbo a geo metro with the 3cyl? sure.
Let me know if you need any help
I'm a specialist at this game. Some ideas I have been serious about but couldn't get any of my friends onboard (yet).
1. Saab 9-3 truck with 2nd motor swapped into rear to power rear wheels. 8 cylinders, 4 driven wheels, 2 turbos, 500ish hp.
2. Miata engine/subframes with everything else made of plywood and fibreglass like "cheaspeake light craft" canoes (look them up, they have an awesome looking camper).
3. 12cylinder bmw 7 series with minivan body made of small diameter pvc pipe and fittings and covered with taut fabric.
4. 12cylinder bmw exocar, with 5 eBay racing seats, and a pontoon boat folding sunshade for a roof. If I had extra time, it would have rumble seats in the trunk too, to enable it to seat 7.
5. Any minivan with front engine fwd, but add two motorcycles (engine, swingarm, rear wheel) inside. One would directly power each rear wheel. I'd put a car tire on the motorcycle rear wheel, but the motorcycle would be the suspension, transmission, chain, brakes, etc.

1. Smallest car you've ever owned.
2, Largest or most powerful street legal drive train you've ever driven.
3. Biggest wheels/ tires you've had on a vehicle
4. Color/paint scheme of car you first learned to drive

MINE? A Fiat 850, with 455 Buick wildcat drive train on 35" gumbo mudders painted teal and white like a 50s era Metropolitan
89 Geo Metro, SBC Vette engine, 275/40-17 on 17 x 9.5, faded blue mid eighties Plymouth TC-3 two tone.

I keep thinking turbo, nitrous Prius.
I wish I could quit thinking about that...
The main reason this is a bad idea is that due to the transmission in a prius, if you give it an extra 100hp, it won't impact the acceleration at all :(
RE: Biturbo, I think its time for GRM to supplement the rules specifically for Biturbos. Each year one does not make it to the challenge and complete it, a +$250 bonus is added to the budget cap for Biturbos only. Start them off with a $2268 budget for $2018. Or just go straight to the Maserati equivalent of "Z=Zero" for LeMons.
Eventually someone will bring one

So the "creator" of that thing has willingly gone 125 in it repeatedly.
Everything about it (including the ad) literally screams: "DRUGS ARE BAD!!"
I disagree. It looks a lot like a little project that won the minivan class in $2016, except with better performance and less caring about looks. I think it's hilarious and probably, honestly, one set of sticky rubber from top 10 in the autoX and drags at a typical Challenge. And the price is SO right!!

I'm pretty sure a biturbo is budget exempt at the challenge

Do we need a “post your cheap biturbos” thread in the $2018 classifieds like the c4 vette and wagons threads?

Actually make it a 6 wheeler... Make it so the stock rear wheels and suspension was untouched, but the twin motorcycles were just sticking wheels down slightly inboard and in front of or behind the real rear wheels.

I remember when cheap Biturbos was maybe 25% of the NMNAs posted.

My memory of seeing that van on the 'board was that the van-g6-firewall connection looked to be more substantial than this one looks... at first glance based on photos on the internet.
The fact that the hatch a-pillar falls an inch (es?) short of the hyundai is really frelling with my mind... unless they've stitched the civic's firewall into there?
which is not to say I think this concept is... bad. I just look forward to seeing a better execution... maybe with a coupe body?
PLUS
Battery Pack from a Prius or similar
PLUS
There is a Jeep DJ5 on a local used car lot that's just had its price cut to $1995. If it falls far enough cover some sort of derange junkyard engine swap, I'd be tempted to use it for LSX Willys type shenanigans.
