The "executioner" look is the best part of this whole "Look at ME (What'r you lookin at?)" cherade!

OMG-ROFL and all that...

I swear I've seen more dorks-turned-gangster wannabes using a Harley to complete the transformation than anything else. Nice try though!

I trained a really sweet, cool young kid to powerlift a few years back. We lost touch for two years. Then I saw him: tattoos everywhere, biker vest over a denim jacket, huge black boots, bandanna, Harley he could barely ride... "Wow, um... You've changed!"

doesn't work that way … need to read up on doppler effect … I don't even hear the loud HD's until they're right behind me … and if I was so asleep that I was going to pull over into their lane, I'd probably already be doing so by that time …

where they're annoying is when they get in front of me

Doppler effect be dammed, last Friday, I heard some chock suckers on crotchrockets coming up behind me, from at least a mile back.

But that's OK. They weren't around long, as they went past me at about 130mph.

yeah you can read all you want, but like I mentioned before, when I'm in CA and they're lane splitting I hear the loud pipe bikes way before the quiet ones. I go ahead and give them a little more room when I hear them unlike some people.

ok … wasn't thinking about lane splitters … if I were stopped or moving very slowly, then yeah I'd probably be able to hear them before they got to me … but at speed, with the windows up, and the AC on … nope … can't hear them 'til they're right on top of me … for that matter I can't hear the siren of an emergency vehicle as they approach me either

Out in California or at least in southern California we get a lot of bikes with pipe's but not open pipes. I live ~2 miles from the local Harley dealership and we never hear them roll out expect for one or two "individuals" who can barely ride to save their lives.

We have rules on the books for noise and the cops enforce them out here. They all carry DB meters.

Now sportbikes those guys need to quiet the heck down. I can hear them sometimes 2 miles out when they pass me.

If you can hear a bike, Harley, crotch rocket, or other wise, coming up behind you from a hundred yards back, imagine what that sounds like BEHIND them. The Doppler Effect is still valid.

You're not behind them for long when they're lane splitting lol.

You guys must have a ton of bikes in your area to be this bitchy. I'm in Middle TN, commute on my bike, and the last time I was around a bike exhaust that pissed me off was probably sometime last year.

You haven't enjoyed noise until a neighbor kid puts a megaphone bell on his moped, making it not only ungodly loud, but slow. You could hear him coming for about 10 minutes, enjoy him going by, and enjoy him for another two miles as he goes away and then turns onto the road behind you. Kid is moving so slowly there is no Doppler effect.

Someone finally talked to him, or his dad I suppose. The moped disappeared for a few months, then showed back up, with a muffler.

Way to go to extremes to try to belittle a very valid thread! I realize YOU don't contribute to this nonsense and you should be commended for that. However, when your three beautiful children constantly get woken up at all hours of the night by these V-Twits, you WILL hear me complain. And if I get the chance (like I did last summer) I will physically do something about it. It becomes personal when you have to put your babies back to sleep every damn summer night. I suppose it'd be ok to blast my air horn under thier window after they fall asleep each night right?

Where do you live that you're constantly being blasted by this stuff? I'm just curious because I lived in midtown Memphis for awhile, and while it wasn't bike noise all night, it was police and ambulances all the time. Nothing I could do about it, but it did suck. Luckily we're kidless, so didn't have to deal with that.

Also, what did you "physically do" about the loud bike(s)? Again just curious.

Summer time we get a lot more. Likely because we can't ride for 4 months of winter. I hear at least 2 day on the drive/ride to and from work.

Here in Indiana, if the weather is nice, bikes are everywhere. If its E36 M3ty out, you only see big touring bikes and a few of us "adventurous" sportbike riders.....we had 2 turbo bikes out in the rain last week.

yeah, you guys have a lot more than us then. There aren't a lot of bikes that commute around here, so if there is a lot of noise it would be more of a weekend thing. Even then I don't notice it, so maybe our bikers are just more well behaved.

Oh weekends? It's a friggin free-for-all. I'm a tick over a mile from the closest "major" road (state road, 2 lane) and I can sit and listen to the ricers and rednecks bombing down the road for miles.

I live less than a hour away from were Harley are born. I have 2 dealers less than 10 miles apart, so this place is Harley central. The area I live in, McHenry, Fox Lake, Lake Geneva was a Summer vacation/resort area. That vibe hasn't completely left. So there are a lot of people on all types of bikes here in the warm months. I'd say half of them, maybe more, are louder than I'd like.

What do we do about it? Complain on the internets.

a tattoo parlor, and used tire shop owned by members of the NC chapter of the Outlaws … so we have plenty of bikes

not enough stop and go traffic here for any lane splitting

I live a mile from Atlantic County Harley... I hear a metric ton of them a day.. and to be honest, most are not that obnoxious.. it is just the very few that ruin it for the rest.

As to the "loud pipes save lives" thing.. Just admit you like it loud and I will understand. The truth is better than making excuses

I'm sticking to my guns on that one. My k1300s has a stock pipe (for now) and my Triumph Speed triple has a full arrow exhaust that was a factory option, so neither are illegal or overly loud, but there are many times you'll here a bike with a pipe before one without. I get merged over on or cut off on a weekly basis and it sure helps if they can hear you with out having to honk non stop.

Way to go to extremes to try to belittle a very valid thread!

Oh and by the way, the first three nearly identical threads on this subject this year may have had a little validity. This one is just the same people flapping their gums about the same E36 M3 they've said a hundred times.

If you really wanted to get the police officers to start enforcing the laws and ticketing straight pipers you'd be a lot more effective if you started going to every town council meeting you can attend and making a stink. Get all your like minded friends out there on the weekends and get petitions signed. Get everybody aggravating the hell out of your town councilman about this.

I promise that would be a hell of a lot more effective than ranting on the internet.

Or continue being internet badasses, spewing negativity and hate. Preaching to the choir where your not going to effect anything except making yourself feel superior on paper.

That's just my opinion though, it's your world I'm just living in it.
