Have an someone approach me about putting new floor-pans in a TR6. They already have the pans.
I hesitate to take on the job until I learn a bit more about the challenges of this job. The big question is if I have to take the body off the frame to do so?
If the body can stay on, are there any real fun details that are going to make me hate my life when I discover them?
I will go look at the car regardless, as when I asked about the rest of the structure it "The car is perfect, just rusty floors". Makes my spidy sense tingle!

If you take the body off the chassis, be sure and reinforce the front to back halves so they don't move. The sill make take care of that, but I wouldn't trust it. Also, if the pans are rusty, the sills may be as well.

There sure is. One of the reasons they flex so much.
In reply to 759NRNG :
All US Triumphs up until the TR7/9 are body on frame. See dherr's Spitfire project. The TR6 frame is a bit heavier but the general concept is the same.
My guess is the floor might be possible to replace without removing the body, but you may have to add temporary supports to keep everything aligned and in place., alhough that would be required if the body is removed as well. So...
And I agree with Bill - if the pans are rusty, one can almost count on the sills having some hidden rust. The project can easily snowball...
LanEvo recently had the floors replaced in his TR6. I don't recall whether he did it himself or hired it out. Either way, would be good to contact him.
