Yesterday felt like the first nice day in ages, so I took advantage of it and installed some Corksport stainless steel brake lines on my RX-7. The car hasn't moved in a month and a half, when the brake master cylinder started to leak. All the rust on the rotors can attest to that. Turns out the car isn't as rust-free as I hoped, but it's mostly surface rust- and in better shape than my Subaru's undercarriage.
Front. That overspray is from CRC's Freeze Off. Freeze Off is the shiznit, and you'll see why shortly.
Rear. I accidentally installed the old banjo bolt fittings instead of using the new ones Corksport provided. Since I need to get back there to bleed the brakes anyways, I'll do it then. I had a pleasant surprise when I saw the rear pads were Hawk HPSs.
This is why Freeze Off is the shiznit. The old lines were stuck like glue to the brackets. A little F.O. and a rubber mallet fixed that problem.
I figure I'll throw in some pics of the new street rims and the now-intact interior.
17" 5Zigen Fighter rims. These will get Falkens or RE-01Rs (if I can find any). OEM rims will get R-comps at some point.
That 80's-riffic beast of a stereo will be replaced with a much-more modern Sony USB head unit at some point. Thanks Mazdax605 for the parts!
A Razo shift knob and new shifter bushings eliminate the slop the shifter had before.
Next up: The brake master cylinder, which I'll do later today, provided I wake up (2nd shift wreaks havoc on my sleeping habits). I'll take lotsa pictures! I hope to have that, the front bearings, and a strange noise coming from the rear fixed by the end of this month so that my daily-driver Subaru can get to the shop to be inspected and have its timing belt and water pump changed. The first NER SCCA Solo event is a fun-run on April 19 on Cape Cod, so I'll need to get the new oil pan gasket installed before then.
Oh, and yeah, I changed my screenname from ArtOfRuin to RexSeven. I figured it's more fitting to GRM than a Lamb of God lyric.
