Well it's my problem now. I drug it home last night. I'm not real sure yet, just what all I bought. The seller just kept handing me boxes of stuff. Loaded the entire back end of Muffin, and the passenger floor board, plus what's on the trailer, for $200. It's definitely and N/A block, no turbo drain. The seller, said, that the previous owner said, that it had been turboed, but there's really no evidence of it that I've been able to find yet.
Is there anyway to tell what year it is, and if it has the "better" 13mm rods, without opening it up?
I haven't inventoried the entire haul yet, but so far I know I got:
- Complete B230F with all accessories and manifolds
- Auto transmission (missing transmission pan, but dude gave me a spare cracked one)
- Engine wiring harness
- Flowmaster muffler and some ~2" pipe
- Random extra cam (haven't identified it yet)
- carpet
- Gasket(s) for sure a head gasket, I think there were more
- Random injectors
- Plug wires
- New belts
- Radiator and electric fans
- Evaporator
- Stainless aftermarket turbo manifold (looks like the $99 ones on eBay)
- At least 3 other boxes of parts I haven't even looked in yet
--- Edit I dug around in the boxes when I got home from work ---
- Mechanical radiator fan and shroud
- A/C components, lines, dryer, etc.
- Exhaust hangers and a reducer
- Volvo OE tape deck and mini amplifier
- A lot of little things new in box, like oil filters, U-joints, seals, motor mounts, etc.
- Various interior parts
- A bunch of random wiring and OE multi pin connectors
- A pair of aluminum wheel spacers/adapters
- 3/4" swaybar (don't know if it's front or rear?)
- Various and sundered hoses, i.e. coolant, intake, transmission, oil cooler, power steering, etc.
So now what?
I looked on eBay for different housing for the Garrett T3 I already have, though I'm not 100% sure what I should be looking for. Chinese, journal bearing non-water cooled, T3/T4 turbos aren't that much more than just the bare hot sides I was finding.
On the Megasquirt end of things, should I be going to LSx coils, EDIS, or just keep the distributor?
I'm fairly sure all the injectors I have ar stock N/A injectors. Just get some Volvo Blues, maybe Greens?
My 240 is a '76, and still has the mechanical fuel injection, so I think I'm going to need a cheap higher flow fuel pump too.
I need to find a wide band O2 sensor still.
I'm rambling, I'm sure I'll have a million other newbie questions I can't think of at the moment.
I've got a lot of Turbo Bricks screen time in my future.
