The ad is wonderfully short on details, but from what I can see that cage looks like it is made out of Twizzlers.

Those 4 cyl dirt track cars are wonderfully cheap. I question the workmanship though.

I knew a guy who ran these as a hobby. He made his cages out of exhaust pipe. At the track he ran the payout for winning was free entry the next week, so people didn't put any money into them, and most of the work was performed while drunk. The racing would be fun, as long as you don't excessively value your life.

Something tells me there is a digit missing on the price, not likely he selling a car with a fresh engine for a fraction of scrap value.

Running a 4cyl at a dirt oval is on my list of goals to accomplish within the next few years. In PA, I lived 3 miles from a NASCAR home track and regret that I never ran. Now I'm only about 10 miles from a local track, so the opportunity is there again.

These cars pop up fairly often for well under $1000 in "race ready" condition. E36 M3, that's close to or less than my total spend for a road race. So if I blow it up or otherwise destroy it, leave it in a steaming pile at the track. I've seen them do "rubbin' is racin'" a lot, which is usually very minor, but I'd still want to be sure the car wasn't built with exhaust pipe...or PVC pipe painted black...

Hornet cars used to pop up rather frequently for $300-$400 here. Not sure if the track they were using shut down or what, but I haven't seen any in a year or so.
