Fun event and more to come soon. And thanks, JG, for cutting out the class designations.

Late bump for tomorrow’s event: Colin and I are autocrossing the GTI with PCA. We’re both in the fun class. :)

Car is cleaned and checked.

Now to get up early.

See you there!

I'm going to be driving what I expect to be the slowest car there, a 1.8 civic at a Porsche event.

I can't wait!

Good night and just about to head up to bed.

Everything’s either in car or staged by the front door.

I was also awake about a dozen times during the night.
If you want to know what it was like, just think back to Christmas Eve when you were seven.

I can comment while we're waiting for David to reply. I was announcing, so I was able to see all of the times and watch the runs for the fun run group.

The faster times were close to 30 seconds. David was solidly in the 29s, more than once.

Colin co-drove and improved 11 seconds from his first run.  We got six runs, and by the fourth he was getting legitimately good. Keep an eye on him!

tldr: David was fast, and also got to introduce someone to the sport (I'm pretty sure it was Colins's first event), who turned out to have some talent. It doesn't get better than that!

For a while, my local club ran practice days on saturday, competition on sunday.

Those saturdays were my favorite.  Timing and scoring was set up for sunday, so you still got timed runs (that didnt count for anything), which let you know if you were picking up time with setup or driving style changes, and you got 30-40+ runs for the same 1 heat work commitment.

My buddies would bring their various projects, and since they were the only ones i cared about beating, there was no difference (for me) between saturday and sunday other than seat time.  We'd usually rotate drivers between everyones cars and see if it was the driver or the car that was really faster.

Yes, a very fun day. And a bit of a long one.

Not much sleep the night before because, as Eric noted, you just don’t.

Up at 5:00 in order to pick up Colin en route. Arrived in Tavares a few minutes after 8:00.

Six runs. Short course but very fun. The GTI felt great: predictable, plenty of power. Thanks, Eric, for use of the tire sprayer. Would happily run that course again.

Colin’s first autocross, and he looked great out there. After a few runs, he seemed to really find his groove. I’m sure he’ll have lots more to add.

Runs over at 11:50–yes, before noon.

Drive to Orlando to eat/introduce Colin to Beefy King.

Then over to Kiwi Camera so I could pick up a camera in for service.

Drop off Colin and then home.

Shower and a nap.

But, wait, the day’s not over yet.

A good friend’s in town, so he’s over around like 4:00-ish.

We hang, take dog for a walk, feed the dog.

Down to the skatepark to catch an open jam/meet with my wife who was already down that way after a day at the beach with a friend.

Mexican for dinner.

Home, finally, at 10:00.

Prep camera stuff for today’s shoot.

Then sleep.
