"Listen to pinchvalve, he is correct."
You guys don't find the apperance of the 911 a little mundane?
I see them so much they are kind of like saying "hey there's a Vette." You just get a meh.
Before we get all carried away, a stock nonlimited edition run of the mill 911
Like say a 911 4S
I just don't see them as a vehicle who's apperance is all that. The interiors are also very lacking IMHO. I think they let a blind German design some of the steering wheels.
Just my opinion here.

Wait you are bringing up the looks of the Porsche 911 when in your original post you mentioned the incredibly stupid looking GTR. Not saying the 911 is a looker but still.
But seriously if I had no budget and I was getting an all rounder it would be a Morgan Aero 8. It is more pure then a lot of sports cars especially the fat GTR. It has done decently in the British GT Championship so it is decent on a track and it looks amazing, has an great interior and sounds amazing.
Dude, you didn't ask what was the prettiest, or the most distinctive sporting car. You asked what was the best. I hate the looks of the 911, yet I cannot deny that a 911 Turbo (especially in 997 S form with PDK and the Carbon Brakes) is the baddest-ass car pretty much ever, and my Grandmother could drive it to church no problem.
And I have to admit, I still notice every 911 on the road. Which is super odd, because I normally only notice cars whose looks I like.
I mentioned best overall, looks, uniqueness, performance, everything.
We seemed to focus very singularly on the fact I said the 911 looked mundane.
I believe the 911 is a great car just I find the GTR looks better. Just an opinion and everyone knows about opinions.
I, in no way have stated or implied, if 911 was the choice I wouldn't take one.
I would in a heartbeat.
I am just asking in a "you only get one" sports car situation
Besides I am leaning more toward the Locost more and more because of what a sports car is to me.
I think my earliest definition is too vague. I would summerize based on a statement I made earlier.
What car makes you want to get up in the morning and go for a drive?
To me that is the ultimate sporting car.
